There's been some discussion on this pseudo-holiday as of late, but I don't think there's a thread about it yet. (If I'm wrong, feel free to let me know and/or lock this.) I do celebrate it, but I can understand why other people might not like it. I mean, I hated it when I was single, and if you're in a relationship, you should celebrate your love EVERY day, right? I like to exchange gifts, though, so that part is cool.

Its a nice excuse to spend lots of money...I like spending money on loved ones, i just dont have much to spend.
I think tis silly to go around spitting at everyone who is celebrating it that year, just because you disagree with it (or youre bitter and single  ). Some think its important, others dont. You cant chastise someone for celebrating it... *cough*homer*cough*

What a load of rubbish Mel. You telling me you have never chastised someone for something you don't agree with? Of course you have. Hypocrite.
Mel, whenever I have been in a relationship (I am not sure why I am having to repeat this to you), I have felt the same about Valentines Day, and thankfully so has my partner. So it has nothing to do with me being bitter and single (can you stop levelling that at me please), simply that I see it for the money making scheme that it is.
This is from the biggest romantic I know too. I guess that's why I don't like it, 'cos it involves someone telling me to be romantic for one day. I don't need telling that, I am always romantic (I'm a pisces for God's sake). I consider it an insult. Too many people laugh at the idea of being romantic for the rest of the year, but all of a sudden, for one day, it's cool. Well bollocks to that. If I'm gonna be laughed at for the rest of the year, then I am gonna laugh at the rest of the world for that one day.

I've sent a flood of e mails to you-know-who about the you-know-what and they're not that dense so should get the hint. Well by hint I mean the email was titled BUY ME THIS AND I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER with a note on the inside to say that if the reverse was scarier, i.e. buy me this OR I'll love you forever then that should apply, either way go buy me the poster. I rate my chances, he's tight but he owes me a favour (and a fiver) so I've cleared some wall space in my study in preparation.
