SkateAlex and I were chatting when he was also chatting to David Lynch.

This is what Lynch had to say:
<DAVIDLYNCH [7:58 PM PST]: I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THE PIXIES SING IN HEAVEN LIVE

Then said Goodbye to Alex.

<DAVIDLYNCH [8:02 PM PST]: OKAY SK8 - TAKE IT EASY

How cool is that?????

Ok so who besides Alex gets to go to the Reading festival with David Lynch??

Very cool indeed! He must be a Pixies fan, he seems to have good taste.

You're also cool Xavier, and I want to hear the Pixies too...

I had a chat with the Pixies yesterday, and they told me they didn't want David Lynch to see them in heaven.

I think it would cooler to hear what Charles wanted to hear live? There are many "famous" people who would like to hear the Pixies play live. It begs the question, why hasn't he (DL) heard them yet? They have toured.

Lynch probably doesn't really know too much about PIXIES...skatealex probably just mentioned to Lynch while chatting the fact that they play In Heaven. This probably prompted Lynch's response.

However...

...a David Lynch directed and produced live music art-show (a' la Industrial Symphony #1) of PIXIES music orchestrated by Angelo Badalamenti would be awesome!

Wait wait wait. I thought that Brian (Broken Face) said that he saw David Lynch at the December 18th show? Or was that David Byrne? I'm confused.

And yes, how did Alex contatc Lynch? Sounds pretty kooky.

David Byrne was at that show. And David Lynch has been a Pixies fan for a while, I'm pretty sure. I remember reading about the production of his movie Lost Highway, in which there was a scene in a bowling alley. Mr. Lynch as adamant about having the song Ana playing in that scene. From what I can remember, they even had the song playing during the actual filming of the scene. But sometime during post production, for some stupid reason or another, the song was replaced by Smashing Pumpkins' song Eye. Does anybody else remember this?

I remember they were gonna use Ana for Lost Highway and also that smashing pumpkins replaced it. BTW you should all check out the cd blue bob by david lynch its really cool and maybe you can see some pixies in there. Anyway the way I chatted with David is off the website DavidLynch.com which is his website and he chats there alot!!!!!!! Its 10 bucks a month and I recommend it for lynch fans- you get all kinda cool stuff like q&a videos by david, different series, and all kinds of short films made just for the site and a kick ass chat room!!!! :)

no problem kathryn :) To me it seems like Davids too busy to be listening to music all the time but Ive asked him before and hes told me he likes the pixies. I think its possible the pixies might have had to get permission to cover the eraserhead song (just an idea). Im not sure about frank tho ;)

you never need permission to cover a song. that's a major fallacy

not to cover a song live, but you need permission to record it (and sell the recording)

i agree. i really like angelo badalamenti's (tough name to say 3 times in a row) music. have the twin peaks and straight story soundtracks.

anyone ever see "pretty as a picture"? i think it's a documentary on david lynch. i've got it on my movie list but haven't seen it yet. heard it's pretty good.

No, you don't! As long as the owner of the publishing gets paid, you can can cover whatever you want.

Weird Al Yankovic doesn't even, legally, have to ask permission before releasing his parody songs, which are essentially covers, but with new lyrics. He does it only as a courtesy.

On topic:
On his Myspace, Angelo Badalemnti says that there's a new CD coming out of MORE music from Twin Peaks. It's supposed to tie in with the release of the second season on DVD coming out next year. This is good news, as there's lots of good music heard on the show that wasn't a part of the first soundtrack CD.

Wow, just found this thread. How cool!

And this article where Lynch's influence on the cover of Come on Pilgrim is quite profound.

Good thing to point out with the anniversary tour coming up.
