"FOO FIGHTERS, PIXIES and metal titans IRON MAIDEN are amongst the big names who will headline this year’s CARLING WEEKEND: READING AND LEEDS FESTIVALS, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.
This year’s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals will see a headline appearance from Dave Grohl’s band, who are putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming double album.
Although festival bosses are unwilling to confirm any names until their announcement next month, an NME.COM investigation has uncovered that Pixies and Iron Maiden are the other headliners.
A festival source told NME.COM: "They’ve bagged Pixies' only UK shows next year, and there’s a chance they could be their last ever in Britain. It’s an open secret that Foo Fighters are playing as well."
Pixies have headlined Reading Festival before, back in 1990, but they’re not the oldest band on the bill.
In what may surprise some, metal veterans Iron Maiden will return to the festival for the first time in over 20 years as part of their massive European tour. Iron Maiden have played Reading before too - in 1980 and 1982, but they still remain a huge live draw.
Reading and Leeds tickets are likely to go on sale in March, with an official announcement to come on the final line-up around the same time. For more bands set to play at this year’s festival, see this week’s NME, which is out now nationwide." |

26th, 27th & 28th of August.
And no, Reading is not near Leeds. Although it may seem like it is for someone from Canada. Leedsis in the north, Reading in the south.

| The first batch of weekend tickets for Reading went on sale yesterday. I am in two minds whether to buy a ticket now or wait until they confirm the acts. I am sure they are going to sell out very quickly, particularly if the Pixies are there. |

| Wow that's an awesome bill. Reading 1990 was one of the best Pixies performances ever!! (Any video from that show?) that was a damn great setlist. Yeah it would be great to hear more bossanova tracks this time. |

Well the first 20 bands are being announced on Monday. If Pixies are playing then they will be in that 20.

yeah.,..i think im gonna be a day ticketer too...grr my friends are all rubbish, need to acquire new more pixies obsessed ones, but im getting the tickets today, genuinely cant beleive im gonna see the pixies!

Weekend tickets are now all sold out for Reading - Leeds still has a few.
The clever thing to do would be to do Reading on the Friday and Leeds on the Saturday.

my friend knows someone who works for mean fiddler and is involved in readind festival, and my brother used to teach a guy who is invovled with reading festival somehow too....... this is the year where i use all the fucking contacts i can get hold off to meet them!

EDIT: I didn't realise that ALL the weekend tickets had sold out for Reading. This batch was only supposed to be an initial batch. It's a good job we got them this time or else I would be giving them hell for feeding us bullshit.

Apparently you can still get tickets at certain HMV stores, this was posted on the Mean Fiddler web site
