First time that I went to a festival it was to see the Pixies, and I thought that I was going to die there...
I also don't like to go to see a band in such a big place, only if it is a wonderful one, like lovely Pixies!

Pixies were the the only thing that made me break my vow (i actually made this vow before last years Pixies Coachella gig).. i got tickets to that at the time when that was the only Pixies gig we knew about. so i bit the bullet. but then there were tons of other shows.
after seeing the secret show the night before in Pomona, with 800 people, there was no way Coachella could compare..

fuck the tents.
in Coachella, which is in the middle of the desert, the small tents are basically saunas.. and just as crowded as the main stages. it's gotten too big unfortunately. i liked the first coachella i went to when it was more chill and there weren't 80,000 kids..

When I was younger and I used to go more to concerts, we didn't have these big festivals, and for me concerts were a lot better in that time...maybe it's just me getting older.

Coachella is in the middle of the desert. it gets hot in deserts in the middle of the desert, in the summer.
it's no accident that they don't allow you do bring in water (to an all day festival in the middle of the scorching desert)

I was forced to attend a Grateful Dead concert at Sam Boyd Bowl
in the desert outside Las Vegas once, and they had all these showers
were people could jump in and cool off. Which was good. Except
for the sight of half-clothed Deadheads.

nice ocean breezes.. cool air.. and plenty of spring water (natural springs) to drink everywhere you look

Ive never been to glasto, so i couldnt comment.
At reading, there were people who actually didnt move from the camp site. just sat there doing drugs.
I hate the feel of reading, it just full of little brats whove told their mates there is a big field you can get off your head in.
i fucking hate it. Especially as i almost died last time i went to reading

I knew it came down to your bad experience Mel. Some of your points are true, but there is no getting away from the fact that if you are a rock/indie music fan, then the Carling festivals are the best. And genuine music fans recognise this and do attend.

Ah and that is why Leeds is my favourite festival.
For once I'm able to enjoy a festival and have all the home comforts too. Send the husband off hiking or somewhere healthy. House to me and my fellow partner in crime. Guest passes. Far too much fun. No portaloo hell and the all important option of leaving if it's shit.
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A
