Oh my, oh my, oh my, very nice show!
I especially enjoyed Black Francis' commitment to the vocals in the songs. Such focus, such concentration, very evident, on "Tame" which led into "Hey". Eyes closed, sweat dripping down from the top of his head and off his red cheeks, lungs pumping. It doesn't get any better than this!
What do you think? Not bad, huh! |

2nd Review (I've had some time to mull over the show and since I'm up and feel somewhat talkative, I'll post another review)
From the Pixies, I've definitely seen better. 1992 to be exact. The ACL show certainly wasn't as lively as the reunion tour stop I saw in Nashville. Not that the Nashville reunion was lively. But, the ACL show lacked some energy.
The Highpoints (in my humble opinion): Black Francis' ( I hesitate to use this moniker, but, hey, it was a Pixie show) vocals were outstanding. The Man was very focused on his singing, his eyes were often closed, and you could tell he was in a Zone, on some songs. It was especially evident in "Tame" and "Hey".
Joey came with his trademark feedback in all the appropriate places.
And, David was definitely ON. He kept the beat, and looked good doing it. Kim played and sang nicely. She had to be coaxed by Black Francis to say good night (something along the lines of "goodnight, hope you enjoyed the show") but smiled with all her natural beauty.
The Lowpoints: NONE! Just would have liked to see some primal energy. Oh well, I've always got my memories from '92.

i think it was about as close to a technically perfect pixies show as i've ever heard. it was pretty mellow, but then most people were sitting and that always takes some of the energy out of things. the occasional cut-aways to the spaztastic crowd dancing were a bit painful to watch.
frank was on fire (not that i expected any less)

I saw it last night. For all the guitar players out there, the camera had a nice shot of Joey's effects pedals during the Vamos solo. I tivoed the show, maybe I'll pause it and try to see what Joey had in his case; if anyone is interested I'll post what I saw. |

I watched the downloaded torrent just now. Excellent quality audio + video. The show was great too. Strange to see such a "behaved" crowd after the London and Paris crowd mayhem I witnessed last year.

well, indeedn, amazing vocals from Frank The best HEY i ever heard! He really like wheeping! Amazing vocal control the all show, from the very low to the very high, from the intimate to the loud
This was the show of Frank. Although, "in heaven" also amazing i think they record the vocals quite loud there

And Joey uses a wha wha effect on Dead and sometimes Vamos too.
Great show with a lot of energy, really amazing. I love the rendition of Gouge Away and Number 13. U-Mass was a hightlight too. |

No. It worked fine with PowerDVD and burned it with Nero, audio and video intact.
