There's a guy at my work who just keeps on coming up with better and better excuses for not coming to work. 'Oversleeping' and 'dodgy chicken last night' are too of the more common, but here's some classics:
"My window was rattling all night so I didn't get much sleep'
"I was at the pub last night and it was raining - I went to the toilet, slipped and twisted my ankle"
"I had a curry seed painfully lodged in my teeth"
There was a time he had to go home at lunch time, because the girl that was in his flat from the previous night was locked in and couldn't get out. His first thought: "are you hungry?"
It has to be borne in mind that a number of these occasions have been the morning after the night before when he was at the pub with people from work. Some people have no common sense.

This individual is an alcoholic.
A drunk.
A 'sauce monkey' if you will. |

Oh absolutely. As one of our resident drunks, you'd know. Mwahaha! How's the detox going, by the way?
I meant to say, please add your own.

Well, I'm sober for the forseeable future.
I stopped calling them - just wouldn't go in.
It is hard to explain, but they accepted this and everything is cool. |

Not so much a sicknote but I do remember a boy at school arriving late and telling the teacher that he witnessed some boy get knocked down by a car on his way to school, and that he had to run home to get a pillow for his head.
He held up a petrol station with a shotgun shortly after leaving school.
Love, love, my season |
