Last night I dreamt about a plane crash. I dreamt there was something wrong with the landing gear and the plane landed, on the runway, mostly on it's nose. There were flames and sparks and parts of the plane ripped off.
Tomorrow my dad and his girlfriend are flying off on holiday, they do this a lot but I've never had dreams like this before.
So how much faith do you put in dreams? Do I mention it to my dad, or do I pass it off as a silly dream.
Would this spook you out too?

I would pay it no mind. I still haven't had sex with Michelle Rodriguez so I don''t think the bad dreams are any more prophetic than the good ones.
I bet Michelle Rodriquez is happy about that.

well, I had a dream about ym great grandad dying exactly the way he did 3 days later. My friends made me swear to tell them if i dreamt they died.
I also apparently predicted the tsunami - long story.
But i would guess its a metaphor for something else which is crashing in you life? or that your diving in to something and taking off parts of your past or something like that? there are plenty of dream interpretation on the web

this would spook me a little starme.k, only because i'm a believer in 'signs'. Whether they be in dreams, from the tv, just something that grabs my attention, for some unknown reason they always leave me pondering what they could mean.
I've had dreams about friends I haven't seen in ages, then days later, there they are. Is it coincidence, not sure. i've had dreams about my brother, horrible ones. Death and all. but the next day I speak to him on the phone alive and well.
I think dreams bring us signs but never as straight forward as they come to us. It could mean so many things, it could mean nothing. I'd mention it to your dad, then he'll say it's only a dream, nothing's ever going to happen to me. And he's right. But least you have some peace of mind. The fact you know they are both flying tomorrow is in your subconscience, the fire I do not know. But the brain works in mysterious ways and plays on our fears, worries and stress.
I blocked my dreams with the herb. Now i'm giving that a rest, the dreams they are a flooding back. Too many signs now.

: To dream that a plane crashes, suggests that you have set overly high and unrealistic goals for yourself. Your goals may be too high and are impossible to realize. You are in danger of having it come crashing down. Alternatively, your lack of confidence, self-defeating attitude and self-doubt toward the goals you have set for yourself is represented by the crashing airplane; you do not believe in your ability to attain those goals. Loss of power and uncertainty in achieving your goals are also signified.

Sorry fbc but - DO NOT TELL YOUR DAD.
Mel, I think that dream about your grandad was pure co-ink-i-dink. Like I said, how come we are all not the rock stars, sports stars, movie stars, penguins that we dream of being?

yeah, thats what i thought, but a few things have happened of that nature. But personally i think that any one can predict those sorts of things, its a matter of how intune you are to them. Also kids tend to be more in tune, and i was about 10 at the time. Weird tho, every exact detail was the same.

I don't think so, I'm positively kicking some arse on this course at the moment!
Thoroughly enjoying it with PhD applications pending. Without sounding egocentric either, it's something I *know* I am good at too. I have to work for it but it's satisfying to get the good grades and feedback.
It's like, you know when you're a kid and people say what do you want to be when you grow up and when you're a kid you have no idea at all, and even some people my agestill don't know, well since I switched to molecular sciences I have known that this is what I'm going to do. Geeky science nerd and loving it.
I don't think struggling between whether or not I want to do a PhD or an MD suggests struggle, and it's not setting my sights too high because I know I could do both and do both well

slightly different interpretation : Airplane Crash To dream of being in this event is a feeling of not only a dramatic negative change in your life, but also to everyone around you as well as your envorment. A very negative symbol and should be meditated upon. To dream of witnessing this event is symbolic of feelings of helplessness in the face of a great tragedy. In prohetic dreams this heralds a great change in the distant future (planes are associated with great distance). This change may not be negative.

I guess we could link alot of our dreams to the real world if we really tried. This is easy for me to say because it's yours, but it's only a dream.

I mentioned it in an offhand manner as well as my dream about shit canadian theme parks.
I am not too spooked, none of us were in the plane and it was not the plane we were meant to catch in my dream anyway. It diverged from there into a dream about a bike which was a push bike but could inflate to a scooter.
My dad thinks I should stop eating cheese late at night.

I wouldn't mind the dream, maybe you were thinking about your dad's trip and you dreamed about that. My mother when I was a small kid and had nighmares used to say to me that they wouln't never happen, that it was all my imagination, so whenever I have a bad dream I remember that and I calm down. Don't worry sweet kittie, everything's going to be alright!

I had a dream about an old acquaintance friend of mine and SpudBoy's last night, that we haven't seen for years. There was a mashed potato theme entertwined somehow. At the end he was writing his address and phone number in a plate of mashed potatoes. I'll probably do a google on him and mashed potatoes now, just for shits and giggles.
I imagine this will go into my lexicon of daily absurdities and either be: utterly born of nightly indigestion, randomly prophetic, link to other coincidences that help lead me further down my path (kind of like signposts), or it means something specific and important. I think it's good to match the concern you feel with some equal response. Seems like you did just that. Good wishes your way just in case though.

Dean's interpretation: Something came into your mind of what if you didn't see them again, consciously or subconsciously, and knowing your dad was flying, you dreamt of his plane crashing. I've had vivid dreams like this that scared me but life has to go on so I disregarded them and I'm still alive today.
I actually had a quick flash once where I was asleep for maybe 3 seconds. I just lost consciousness basically and in my mind I saw my car hurtling out of control on the ice towards a red Cavalier in front of me, and then I was awake again. Seriously, it was like I was reading, blinked, and that's what I saw.
Still haven't yet, though I'm keeping an eye out. :)

I've dreamt about my aunt's death and my father's heart attack. They both happened about three weeks later. I also dreamt about my mother winning the lottery... too bad the good dreams don't come true.

Very true, Ms. ofStone. My mom has had a dream where someone died and she woke up my dad to say, "I think so-and-so died" and sure enough the next morning they got a phone call.
And the weird thing was it wasn't an ongoing sickness where you knew that it was coming, or where they were unhealthy or anything. Very healthy and then bam, blood clot or whatever you call it (starts with an a, I'm tired...). Makes you wonder about things when stuff like that happens.
Usually though, I'd say a dream is a product of what's going on around you and imagination.

Thanks, C. Thatsis the won.
My original post still sticks. Sometimes there can be more to dreams, but I don't think this is a case. You're the one that dreamt it, unless you have a specific premonitive feeling, I'd say chalk it up to imagination. I won't tell you not to say anything, just debate how sure you are and consider the outcome. They're not going to cancel their trip anyway unless they're really suspicious or you're REALLY sure, and you'll end up making them nervous.

Don't believe in dreams until they come true.
FB Conspiracy, I do believe in signs-- but they're not always right.
There's a force where it predicts and knows all and sometimes some people are more sensitive to reading it or picking up on it. |

in my dream i was eating a cheeseburger (with fries and a coke)
then, today, guess what i had for lunch?
it was pretty eerie really. it's like, did i have a burger because of the dream, or was the dream a premonition of the burger?
it's like the whole chicken or the egg question..

I don't really take dreams literally but I think they can tell you something about yourself which you may not want to conciously admit to yourself. Maybe your plane crash dream was as simple as the fact that subconciously you were nervous about their trip.
My dreams are just so bizarre, sometimes it is very hard to see any meaning. But if I describe them outloud, I am often like "OH, that's what it meant!"
Anyway, I think they are a good clue of how you really feel about things, if nothing else.
