I think "velvety" is kinda love song-y.
... "Nadine", although that may be more of a
lust song than a love song.

speedy marie and I will run i think are best.

As opposed to the records that are full of lies?

The Marsist. It's a love song to a geographical anomaly.

Now we're just naming love songs that haven't been mentioned yet. Speedy Marie is not only the best love song, but the greatest song in the history of the world by any artist other than myself. You know it gets the top slot.

Come on man, give me a break

Not to sound insensitive, but rather realistic, SPEEDY MARIE and Frank crashed and burned, they didn't make it,

There's only 3 sure things in life, DEATH, TAXES, and DIVORCE

THIS OLD HEARTACHE is one of Frank's greatest love songs

Look I like Speedy Marie, It's cute and sweet, but it's merely a declaration and description of the object of his love, it doesn't go any deeper than that

I mean Lionel Richie is better at that than Frank

yeah, you want to hear something hilarious, well,my wedding song, you know the one where the Bride and Groom dance at the reception for the first time as Mr. and Mrs., with my first wife was ENDLESS LOVE by Lionel Richie (I think this song was on the sound track of the Brooke Shields movie "Blue Lagoon", another classic love story, it was a big hit the summer of '82)

you gotta love the cinematic foreshadowing that song selection provides,

(It wasn't my choice, I thought it was stupid)

Alright, back on topic,

Here's probably one of Frank's all-time greatest love songs, a song about a guy that won't give up on the one he loves, no matter how many times she leaves him, not once, not twice, but 7 times she leaves and 12 times he goes and gets her

I WILL RUN AFTER YOU

"...Wouldn’t look for another love, no
Listen if you leave
Tell you what I do

If you leave (x7)

I will run after you (x12)"

Ok, I Will Run AFter You is probably one of Frank's greatest love songs but I forgot about this one,

SELKIE BRIDE

I always thought the singer was telling his oceanic love creature to leave him the hell alone, until I was enlightened by Kathryn:

"Selkies (also known as silkies or selchies) are mythological creatures in Irish and Scottish mythology that can transform themselves from seals to humans. The legend apparently originated in the Orkney Islands, where "selkie" is simply the Orcadian word for "seal".
Selkies are able to become humans by shedding their seal skins, and can revert to seal form by putting the skins back on. Stories concerning selkies are generally romantic tragedies. A human and a selkie fall in love, but after a while the selkie becomes restless, and decides to return to the sea. Sometimes the human will not know that their lover is a selkie, and wakes to find them gone. Other times the human will hide the selkie's skin, thus preventing them from returning to seal form."

yeah, I forgot about MY FAVORITE KISS

I love the visuals I get from this one:

Sky be torn
Send down the fabled twist
The wanting is there
But there is nothing left to go on

Yeah, I said it was hilarious and it is, but I suppose there is an element of sadness, but only in a sentimental type way, unless you're talking about "Blue Lagoon" and yes, that's tragically sad.

I'm gonna put on some COR-era bootlegs and wait for Carl to post a pic of, say, the Blue Lagooon poster with Frank Photoshopped in there next to Brookie.

I always thought "Back to Rome" was great. Not exactly a lovey dovey type of song but nevertheless a song about the trials of love.

I found this in the FB song data base, where Frank is quoted as saying"...I think on that one I actually researched the name Helloise, to see what came up. I just punched it up on a search engine, and there she was. A nun! Not a nun, she was a pupil of some priest guy, and they had a kid, they took the kid away from her and they castrated the guy and they both retreated back into religious lives, but they wrote to each other, love letters for the rest of their lives, and when they both finally passed away they were buried next to each other in some Paris cemetery. There you go. Gee, I wonder what I should write about?"

yep, Kathryn, a very tragic mood

Hey Babe, I was reading back over these posts from last January and noticed you never finished your story,

So, what's your love story associated with the neighborhood of so. bay?

Nothing special. I had friends and family down there, used to hang out, listen to Frank, eat Mexican food, walk by the water, shoot the shit. Good times. You know.
