Did you people ever see Spaced - the quirky, award-winning situation comedy? I'm just rewatching my DVD boxset and I've come to the conclusion that it is absolute genius. Really witty and smart, and very very funny also.
Its all the same people as Shaun Of The Dead if you want a reference point.

No but I believe in space.
Sorry, it's what the thread's name reminded me of.

No, I finally saw my first episode of Coupling this weekend, though. Moments of hilarity, and moments where the conversation seemed forced and contrived.

Yeah, Coupling can be a bit patchy really. Actually Dean, I think you'd love Spaced. In the nicest possible way, you're a geek - this DVD comes with a movie reference homage-o-meter.

I'll keep an eye out for it on the telly. I've been loving British TV of late.

My only experiences with British television are Coupling, The Office, and Flying Circus (that I can think of right now, at least). I love all three, and have been meaning to check out Spaced. I was inspired by SOTD, which if I'm not mistaken, is somehow related to the show. Could anyone explain for me?
Edit, never mind,I saw that thing on the bottom of Cheeseman's original post.

I watched as many episodes as I could of Spaced when it was playing on Trio for like two weeks and absolutely love the show. Too bad they don't play it anymore and I don't have a European DVD player so I can get the DVDs, I've tried to find episodes on the internet but have had no luck whatsoever. It's really frustrating.

I love the supporting cast as well: Bill Bailey is magnificent in every situation, Mark Heap is just great as Brian and Peter Serafinowicz is brilliant. Ah yes, of course Tires as well. Oi oi!
And I can guarantee to cheer myself up by watching two episodes of Spaced - 'Gone' from series 2 with the gunfighting and the chavs, and 'Epiphanies' from series 1 where they go to the club. "Where's Mike? There's Mike!"

I bought this the other day on DVD, have only watched about 3 episodes and think its a little boring... nowhere near as cracked up as people make out.
This is a high class bureau de change, not some Punch & Judy show on the seafront at Margate! |

I'd say give it some time Stuart. I know what you mean, I didn't think it was that amazing when I first saw it. Its good fun spotting all the movie references though, at least?

Absolutely love Spaced!
I remember seeing a couple of episodes from the First Series when it was first aired on Channel 4 and wasn't that impressed. It was sometime later that I caught the end of the Second Series episode with the homage to "Empire Strikes Back" and felt compelled to buy the first series DVD to give it another go. I loved it! Since then I bought the second series and the Collectors Edition box set, which is worth it for the very end of the included documentary alone.

Can't find it on my BBC here in Canada. It's pretty cool that they show This Hour Has 22 Mins though, although I imagine you buys over there don't get it.

OK, this is funny. I hope they'll play it on French TV sometime soon, you guys keep raving about it and I love British humour/humor.

Activate!
Its good stuff. The first one makes sense in context, Denis.
Dean, It was shown on a non-BBC channel here, so chances are unless someone else picks it up... I dunno, maybe the BBC shows syndicated programmes there?
