I've just returned from the Odyssey of Aggravation that is visiting the family. I've been tearing my hair out for the last three days, but I have some pretty cool loot (and about five extra pounds) to show for it. Some highlights:

-a new computer (!)
-a cashmere robe thing
-America - the Book
-a squishy toy lizard that looks and feels so real I've already had to pry it out of my cat's mouth twice
-a very cool MAC train case
-half an apple pie in the refrigerator, mmm.

Some lowlights:

-a throw pillow with a picture of my dog screened on the front. barf.
-a Jessica Simpson CD. WTF. I "accidentally" left it behind at their house.

What about you guys? Did Santa bring you anything nice?

If you really want to know, look in the Frank

Oh Dayanara sounds like you got some nice stuff.

Train cases are so awesome. You'll love it.

I am so sorry Apl that you guys were snowed in. For some reason, I thought the worst was south of you by an hour or two. Well hopefully it was romantic and you can reconnect with your family and have a late xmas.

Well my hubby was very cool and got me some new/vintage Pixies vinyl and a little chest to store it in. Way cool.

I also got tix to the Lion King which I haven't seen.

Some cash.

And a gift certificate to itunes.

And that's about it.

I got a Bill Hicks DVD with three stand up specials and a documentary on it. Can't beat that with a stick. Got a Street Fighter 15th Anniversary Control Pad(Ken version), that was pretty sweet.

I got a scarf, a jumper, a ukulele, Show Me Your Tears, Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo, Oracle Night by Paul Auster, a Catalan-English dictionary, a dodgy stomach from a combination of red wine and clottedcream fudge.

Is that Bills Hicks DVD the It's Just A Ride documentary with the London Dominion show?

Thats only got one stand up show (london) on it hasn't it? With clips from the others (that are CD's anyway)?? I thought there were only two out there (totally Bill Hicks and One night stand) but maybe these are the only ones I've found.

I got:
A CD rack
A metal coca cola wall plaque
A bottle of perfume
A pack of invisible playing cards
A calendar with Nuns in it
A hip flask
A Sheepy bank
Some bouncing putty and magnetic frogs and a fan!

excellent stuff

oh and my mum got me some second hand Asimov books and william gibson - virtual light

-Eraserhead/Lost Highway/Mulholland Drive DVD set
-Family Guy series 3
-Spongebob bedsheets
-Book on surrealist art (think I want a Francis Bacon tattoo)
-Japanese rice crackers (yum) & usual sugary stuff (ugh)
-Ebow guitar gadget
-Sam & Max comic book, '92 vintage (came with a seemingly valuble anime comic from 87, mint and bagged!)
-numerous things that suggest I need to smell better
-A 'sunshine buddy'. Absolutely awesome and hypnotic http://www.gadgetbargains.com/cacr-602437ro.html

No music yet..relying on other relatives for that..

i'm going to get a cookbook i saw that was a "one pot" cookbook, full of stews, soups, etc. i have a very small kitchen w/ very little counter space, so soups are a blessing for my tiny abode. i'm going to use one of the gift cards to buy the arrested development season 1 and the simpsons season 5 dvds. with the rest i'll just look around and see what pops out at me.

This is a book I bought at random a couple of years ago, it's called The Art Of Looking Sideways and it's been in my bathroom ever since. (When I was growing up the presses in that room were bursting with National Geographics) It's beautifully put together and inspiring whatever your pursuits lean towards.

bracelet

hand made silver ring, which has a treble clef featured

a really cool hat

a teddy bear from my mum?!?!

a note book

some crap make up

a pepperami selection!

a beautiful dark purple luxury dressing gown

black satin little top and bottoms for bed

Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me.
