So what are the odds of a new album and tour in 2005? They've got the whole world in their hands now... they can do Pixies albums and tours every couple of years and keep doing their Catholics, Breeders, Martinis and Magic shows as well. It's win win as far as I'm concerned. |

Well, I'm not a prophet or a stone-aged man, just a mortal with potencial of a superman and I am clever enough to forsee that the Pixies reunion was a metheorite, and will soon be resumed. There will be no new album, maybe a couple of new songs (which are according to some infos I have, already recorded). One of them being a studio version of Boom Chica Boom. (Sorry Tom, could not keep it) Come on guys! What did U expect? They reformed for money and a (bigger)legacy (that is to say money). The band will split again shortly after the 2nd tour. Everyone in the band will keep on doing their things but definitely on their own... and fully loaded, which is great! But don't expect to see them again before the next decade...

with the 6 months theyre taking off after the holidays, and kim working on the new breeders album, i couldnt possibly see them recording an album this year. hopefully well get some new songs, but i highly doubt a new album. i wouldnt get my hopes up. |

It's mostly up to Frank to write the new album over the next 6 month sabatical period. With the mobile studio, a few songs already in the can, and a bit of time for rehersals I'm sure they could knock over a new album sometime next year and not kill the legacy. Otherwise they will be like the Eagles and have 10 greatest Hits albums culled from 4 studio albums and go on tour every few years to top up the bank balance, but that would be more of a sell-out I reckon. They should just keep crankin' the songs out and when they get to 12 or 15 stick out an album. The purists may cry, but fuck 'em. They can put the band on ice for another decade after they pump out the next batch of songs. Then they can justify doing more greatest hits reunion stuff down the track. |

Interesting on the studio version of Boom Chicka Boom.
Otherwise, I can guarantee they've got at least one more show in the works and probably won't play anything live before that (August).

Whatever happens, it's good to see that Franks grown up a bit. I mean, how many kim deal songs are on the pixies albums? I think he was against her writing too many songs for some reason- possible because they weren't pixieish enough, but with the success of the breeders I think he's seen the light. However, with Kims success combined with his own, its unlikely this is a sell out, he's got the fans in his hands and can do frank black shows to make money, so i doubt its about cash. I think it's more about showing that the pixies are timeless, and that they can just come like lightning, drop off an album and a tour or two, then be gone at any given moment, maybe to come back again, maybe not - either way, I look forward to hearing some new material, even if its 5 or 10 years in the making. Who fucking cares if they seem like they're selling out? The truth of it is, its all speculation and rumour. The only guy who knows for sure is Black himself.
