Ugh..
You people and people like you just piss me off to no end.
After September 11th everyone belly ached about how the air was no longer safe and how the government, the people running the airports and it's staff didn't do their jobs, etc. So a strict code of regulations was created to make sure nothing like Sept.11th would happen again.
But now people bitch about having to be searched, bitch about the people doing it, and bitch about how pointless and stupid the standards are. So what do you want? Do you want everyone, including women, to be searched to make sure they aren't a threat? Or do you want everything to revert back to post Sept.11th so you'll no longer have to take off your shoes at the check point?
No one wants another terrorist attack. No one wants to be searched at the air port. Make up your mind and stop making these people's already difficult jobs worse. Laides, no one is getting their jollies feeling along your bra line..it's just a job.

I want a national ID card with checkpoints at every county border. I don't feel safe unless someone wants to see my papers. |

I work for DHS/TSA. Part of an employee relations council.
The screeners I work with certainly don't find performing a pat-down titillating. It's quite offensive to think that they might. It is part of their job.

They are afforded no protection, aside from thin purple gloves, against what they are searching for: Improvised Explosive Devices.
They are not thieves. They value their jobs and gaining seniority more than a passenger's portable DVD player or cufflinks. (Your average bottom-level screener makes about 31K USD. No college. Some with GEDs.)
Speaking of which... they have received no pay raises in over two years (aside from the Cost Of Living Allowance, which is, UNBELIEVEABLY, cited by management as being a generous hand-out.)

Ach, OK I was sharp, apologies.
But I have had a dodgy search. The guy squeezed where he shouldn't really be squeezing and if he had to then it was a lot harder than was really required, he winked and asked if it was good for me, it was icky, and I was a lot younger then and very timid otherwise there would have been a severe knee-balls interface. So it does happen.
But apologies to modernfix and Dean for being a mean tre.
