With the holidays around the corner and stress levels high... I thought I would pilot a yoga thread that most people can use to get a break and revitalize their system.
Rule #1. Don't do anything that hurts or just doesn't feel right.
Rule #2. Listen to your body
Rule #3. Breathe.
Fill your nostrils with air and breath our through your mouth. Divide your lungs into these parts upper and lower and right to left and front to back. As you draw in the breath, fill each quadrant beging with the top front. Then move to the top back. Have the breath begin to fill out the lower parts of your lungs front and back. As you are breathing, visulize the air filling your lungs-- making your ribs and back expand. Slowly and naturally exhale through your mouth. |

Ok here is the first lesson... let me know if you like it and I will do more.
This helps relax your back and open your heart center.
Take a tennis ball. If you have someone to help you, that's great.
Lay down most of the way, with your feet touching the floor and making a triangle with your legs. Lift the back up in a crunch place the tennis ball one or two vertabre under your neck.
Lay there for three minutes if comfortable, eyes closed listening to the rhythm of your breath.
Repeat by moving the ball down a few inches each time. Be sure to relax your arms and shoulders.
If it is unconfortable, gently roll to your side and sit up.
After you have done this and moved the ball down to where your bra strap line is or for guys opposite of where your ribs start, you might try this.
With your legs still making the triangle, roll the ball around your back while laying on it. The pressure will give you a little back massage.
Just go at your own pace and do what feels right!
Hope this helps during a hectic holiday season!! Seasons Greatings!!! |
