i was thinkin about the old letterman performance the pixies did and i realized how outta control this part is. any help?

okay that sounds correct, but he plays it so fast and it doesnt sound like hes just strumming down over and over it sounds like hes plucking each string, but its so fast i dont see how he could do that. is there some trcik to it? or is it just joey magic or soemthing.
