A friendly heads up, SpudBoy just called to let me know about this. Basically, if you are using a website that has pop-ups, even if you have them blocked, and even if the site is secure, there is a new hijack exploit that exists for most browsers.
The link above will walk you through testing your browsers to check for the exploit holes. Also it gives information on what you should do for each browser.
chemical flood if we accept that emotions and thoughts are translated instantaneously into chemicals, we are shocked at the bathing process that flushes our insides and outsides - posing as needs and desires. in addition to the ordinary caffeine and nicotine fix, there is a specific chemical addiction for “I overate yesterday” “how can I win so-and-so’s attention?” “I remember when we blah blah blah” “I need to buy whatever for the apartment” etc. all this and we haven’t even opened our eyes. then it hits you, these aren’t the thoughts of someone who is free. |

well i just the test with both firefox 1.0 and I.E latest updated version.
I.E is vulnerable to both tests(with and without pop-up blocker)
Firefox does a bizzare thing. when i try the "with pop-up blocker" test it gets highjacked. when i try the "without pop-up blocker" test but with the popup killer activated it behaves as it should. weird. unfortunately there is no patch available for firefox yet.

My testing found that IE w/o pop-up blocker did not pass, so you probably don't have the latest IE or XP SP?

actually i'm on an old laptop that runs win98SE right now 'cause i trashed my dsl modem, well it's a long story. however i do have the latest I.E with all the updates but it gets highjacked the same. i'm not too worried tho' since the statistics for Firefox, which is my default browser, aren't that threatening. at least i hope.
