hello. I've heard a lot of people on here critisising the song - Tony's theme, and the man himself says he doesnt like it. I think that this is a bit unfair. Although it is possibly the weakest song on Surfer Rosa, i think its still a bitchin' song, thats also a lot of fun. I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that, or do most people agree with that guy who said it 'really stinks'?

I really like Tony's Theme for some silly reason.
I went to an Expos game this year where this player Tony Battista hit two home runs, and each time he hit them, my friend and I just yelled "TO! - NY!, TO! - NY!" at the top of our lungs. |

I like this song a lot, canīt understand why people critisize it, and I think itīs very funny also, just to imagine a superhero named Tony!!
I love the begining, "This is a song about a superhero named Tony
It's called Tony's Theme".

I like this song because of the way Frank sings it. And the barking of course, that's something to hear. Actually, I never understood why this song is so unpopular. For me it's just as good as any other Surfer Rosa song. Which is very good. Indeed. I mean, Oh My Golly... I love this song... Comparing the two, Oh My Golly and Tony's Theme... how come everybody likes the first one and nobody likes the second? I don't get it.

It's comic relief. The whole thing about a little kid with a bike and playing cards in the wheels is quite charming. It's bookended by two rather serious songs, and its resulting impact is stronger than were it standalone.
I didn't know Frank didn't like it. Hunh ... |

| I just commented in the Cactus thread that this song almost ruins Cactus. You just get done hearing a really good song(Cactus), and then this song comes along and changes the good state of mind you were in. So, no, I don't like this one. |

I think it's a pretty fun song, and I love the spoken introduction. While it's certainly not one of the greatest Pixies songs, I really can't see why so many people hate it.
I believe Frank has also said he's not very fond of "Here Comes Your Man," so I don't know that he's the best judge of his own work.

i am not a big fan of either song. tony's theme seems like it was just a joke. and not that funny. especially after all of these listens.
here comes your man is ok but too hokey. sounds like he was trying to be brian wilson or something. i know he was influenced a lot by those 60's bands but he did a lot better rockin with the pixies.
but these comments are all relative. almost everything the man has created is gold. these might be just silver. |

| I lent surfer rosa/come on pilgrim to a co-worker awhile ago and his response was "I didn't like Tony's Theme". This drove me nuts, cuz i know that's exactly what FB thinks himself, but I myself can't understand why it's considered such a bad song. Even after reading all the negative comments in this thread, I still don't get it. |

| I love Tony's theme. It makes me laugh. I think I understand most of the lyrics, "I can't talk, super bicycle time" and "I can stare at the sun if you give me some bad sunglasses... I'll mow the grass liek I'm told, AFTER CLASSES!" Genius. I had actually downloadedit and thought it was a bootleg or something, it was so rough. But after listening to it in context, I love it. but hten, my name happens to be Tony so I may have some bais (spelling?) there. I don't much like Here Comes Your Man. It's boring. But yeah, Tony's Theme= thumbs up. |

Tonys Theme is a crackin little tune but its over shadowed trememdously by alot of better songs.
I like the barking of "TO!, NI!, TO!, NIIII!" its class. |
