Where is the star of paradise?
During Christmas season, children always fell very happy because their parents have more time to company them and will buy gifts for them. When I asked my 8 year old son what does he want as gift, the answer is: Only you. After heard it by phone, I can¡¯t help to cry silently because I know it is what I can¡¯t promise him this Christmas.
We live in different cities 2500 mile far away. I am in Vancouver and he is in Olathe. The only reason for this separating is due to USA¡¯s border officer¡¯s strong sense of responsibility. I came in Canada one year before. When I want to return back USA, I was refused by custom officer on the border. The reason is they suspect that I have incline for immigrate to USA. There are lots of foreigners can¡¯t get visa due to this reason. But I never think there is a possibility that a correct visa holder would be refused for getting inside USA only because of an arrogant officer¡¯s suspicion. In fact, I already traveled several times to USA without any trouble in this way before this time. The only difference is that I told the true purpose of my travel to the officer this time that I would visit my wife who studies in USA.
The result is absolutely disappointed. I even could not handle myself and angrily argued with those domineering UBO( USA border officers). They ware so stupid that did not check out terrorists who went from Canada and attacked NY on 911, but stopped my visit to my son depending on their feeling of my incline. I don¡¯t want to deny that I wish getting a chance to immigrate USA. Why not, if this country signs as freedom and democracy? Why not, if America dream already becomes human¡¯s aspiration? No matter if they are rich or poor, most chinese want to immigrate to USA. Becoming an USA immigrant is most people¡¯s incline. I am not an exception. But does this mean I should be refused? Think about it, how many political refugee coming from Fuzhou china are real refuge? According to my knowledge, it is almost 0%. But they come inside USA and apply for refuge. It is not only they are liars, but also USA immigrant system. For me, I felt myself so fool that I regret why I would tell them truth? I got no trouble before this time because I only said that I will went inside for couple days shopping trip. It was a lie but the border officer never suspected about this lie. They use their only intelligence to guess something hiding behind truth. But for lie, who cares? This time I told them truth because I already feared GOD and don¡¯t want to make lie again. The result is I can¡¯t visit my son again.
Tonight, I left my son already 14 months. I missed him so much that I dream him frequently and worried even more that he will forget me. I become more sensitive for my son¡¯s word. When talking by phone, I always ask him if he miss me or not. As an 8 year old boy, he is half-hearted about this kind talking. But tonight, he suddenly asked: ¡°Daddy, when would you be back?¡±
I can¡¯t keep my tear from dropping on microphone although I know maybe he only want to get some gifts for Christmas. I missed him, my only son. After refused, I ever asked him for coming back Canada and got his promise, but supplement too: he will still study in his Meadow Lane school because he love all people in this school. I know him, my son, being reluctant to leave USA. I still remember he explained to me why there are 50 stars on the flag. He is very excited because he loves stars. At last, he asked a question: why there is no star for the paradise? How poor I am! I don¡¯t believe there is a paradise at that time. The only answer I replied is ¡°Paradise does not belong to USA.¡±
911 verified my words immediately. I didn¡¯t believe when my classmate told this news to me at university lab neither realize that our life will be changed totally. At those days, I felt as same as usually USA people. Especially, when I saw a woman cried when listened Bush¡¯s speech, I felt so angry about those terrorist the night after 911. But USA changed. The policy for foreign become more harsh step by step although my neighbor still smiled to us normally. Immigrating to USA becomes a Mission Impossible. We have no way but to keep Canadian status.
Tonight I don¡¯t want to query if USA has the right to keep us outside America although I understand that every person has the right for moving from one country to other country with freedom since European moved to this land without permission from Indian several hundred years ago. Also, I give up to query GOD if only USA citizen already ¡°become his people, a special property, just as he has promised¡±(De 26:18) although I hated GOD(sorry) when got refusal for getting inside USA. After tonight, I will not judge other people¡¯s lie for immigrating to USA too. Tonight, after talking with my son, I have only one question for myself: where may I obtain one more star as a sign for paradise for my inherited son? Christmas will come with pieces snow falling down from heaven. Is there a star for my son with the words of the king: Come, you who have been blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world.(Mt 25:18).
Son, I feel too ashamed to say ¡°miss you¡± because I don¡¯t know where I could find a star of paradise as Christmas gift for you.

Hihi, I just feel so sorry for my son tonight. You have the ABSOLUTELY "right" to keep other people from entrying to your COUNTRY. Although I have correct visa, I was refused to entry in USA just because I told them the truth. I can't visit my son who live in USA with his mother now.
My english is "incoherent", because my mother language is not english. But I am still a man missing his son as same as your USA guys.

I can't understand what does you mean. I am not a Catholics. I am just a Bible student now. My minister taught me should be honest. But the result is taht I was refused to entry usa. So, I have to query: is there a real God who take care rightous? I get no problem for getting inside usa because I have the correct B visa. The only thing I need do is just lie: I want to shopping something. After studied Bible and told truth to the officer, GOD! I lost my son!
Christmas! my son's only wish is me! That is why I feel so bad.
But I still feel fear for God now. |

| I'm sorry you're in the predicament that you are---as much as I can understand it--- but why post on an FB board about it? If I were you, I'd write to the NYTimes. The people here are not only powerless, but they seldom leave their homes. Joke. But the NYTimes suggestion, that was meant in earnest. Not meaning to be facetious, only honest. |
