Gone out on a limb...apologies if its already been done. Recently bought the Manson best-of 'lest we forgot' don't usaully buy best offs but considering i had all his albums previously but sold them decided this was the easiest option to get back into him. Gee this is a tight record...great track progression, surprised only 3 songs of antichrist and 2 of mechanical probably my 2 favourite records but gee it is all good.
I find him so over the top in his lyrics it is quite humorous..eg Fight Song ' nothing suffocates you more than the passing of everyday human events'...man does he rock though

I don't feel too much respect for him (them?), maybe because he's made some "easy" covers. Do you know what I mean? It's easy to make a 'Sweet Dreams' cover for a rock band. And all 'bout his image and all the media support and stuff... Man, I hate him!

Anyway, it was funny for me (and a complete surprise!) when I saw "Bowling for Columbine" and this clown said the most clever words on the doc. I respect him a human being but not as an artist (At the moment...)

I think Mechanical Animals is a work of genius.

But having said that I totally agree with Whore re the easy covers.

I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was
just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work.

Yeah I was stunned at how literate he was on Columbine, its easy to forget that the whole thing is an intense act - he gained my respect on that interview

One of my guilty pleasures. His covers are amazingly uninteresting though.

"Just kill the one with the sword first."
"Ah," Reagan says, raising his waxed and penciled eyebrows, and cocking his pompadour in Shaftoe's direction. "Smarrrt--you target them because they're the officers, right?"
"No, fuckhead!" Shaftoe yells. "You kill 'em because they've got fucking swords! You ever had anyone running at you waving a fucking sword?"

The guy himself seems very intelligent and all, but I think his music lets him down. Its very basic, unoriginal stompy rock, and I'm sure he could convey his message better through more interesting music.

Maybe he's just reaching the kids though...

I once saw a picture of his naked arse. That frightened away any interest I might have had in anything about the guy.

Don't know about the tunes but I liked his gender bending phase.
All these young silly girls all saying oooo he's so cute and then he had tits and it was a whole other story...;)
I like people who push gender boundaries,
because it isn't black and white,
so many people still need to learn that or even to see it.

Either way, I still say he's a marketers wet dream.

I think MM is great. Sure his music is a bit samey but so are alot of other good bands (Rage Against The Machine).

If you watch or read any interviews with him he is really smart and articulate which lets face it is quite rare these days.
