I don't know if he has been discussed before, but I love this man's films. I saw Elf recently, which was merely "good", but I absolutely love Swingers and Made. He starred in, wrote, and directed these two beauties. Most people seem to prefer Swingers but I think I like made better. Any other Favreau fans?
PS I really wish I had the IFC channel so I could watch his show. |

Of course! Though Vince Vaughn played a crucial role in making Swingers and Made the kickass movies that they are. I am one of the common folk, I prefer Swingers over Made, though I watched Made again very recently and it's hilarious and entertaining. Swingers just has more classic moments, and I kind of prefer Vaughn being a bit more competent like he is in Swingers than a complete jackass fuckup that he is in Made.
I haven't seen Elf yet and... eh, I just don't like Will Ferrell. I don't hate him, but I don't get why he's the sensation he is. Old School was a complete piece of shit, I might have laughed once or twice, even Vince Vaughn couldn't save that movie and didn't even seem to try. He sucked in it, too.

| Yes, Vince Vaughn makes these movies as special as they are. So many classic moments. "You're so money and you don't even know it" "Vegas baby", etc. But I think I like how much heart Made has, and how pathetic VV's character is, and depsite all that, JV sticks by him. Plus, he's just a super daddy. |

TarTar and I: many similarities in film tastes, but many differences too. I love Will Ferrell, and i thought OLD SCHOOL, while not perfect, was one of the funniest films i'd seen in a while. underrated film for 2003.
i like SWINGERS too. it's hard not to. i think it captures LA pretty well. i haven't seen MADE or ELF so i can't comment.
i friend of mine from college bartends at the Dresden, so i frequent there often. it's still pretty much the same, though more trendy and crowded post-Swingers.

floop, drop what you consider is important that you're currently doing and go see Made. I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who loves that movie this much. I'm on my 10th or so viewing. It's just consistently funny and good.
And I agree abut Old School, I found it extremly funny. |
