So after Adnan mentioned him a week ago or so, I trawled the net for some writings. I had read Naked Lunch and Junky about ten years ago, and I don't know what I was doing not reading him since. Some of the ideas he has on the language problem and the silent path are quite similar to those of a guy I'm reading at the moment called Stuart Wilde. Does anyone know which of Burroughs is particularly good for elaboration on these?

Moving from the clown to the jester will mean moving from similar to same, from alike to identical, from comparable to analogous. Though applied differently, the colours used on one can be used on another, and a couple of changes of costume will rapidly transform the jester into a clown and the clown into a jester. Strictly speaking, they almost duplicate each other as regards clothes and function, the only difference between them, from a social point of view, is that clowns do not usually visit the palaces of kings.

Word Virus - the William Burroughs reader.

I bought this book a while ago, I'm still to read it but it is "the authoritative anthology of Burroughs' writing ..... as much for the general reader as for the scholar"

I might as well start reading it now.

the whole "Nova Trilogy": THE SOFT MACHINE, THE TICKET THAT EXPLODED, and NOVA EXPRESS deals with his ideas of language and consciousness (as a virus) ..

read that whole trilogy in this crazy lit class i took in undergrad called "Literary Post-humanisms" . we also read Ballard, Delillo, Dick, others.. and of course lots of theory
