Edwina, you're supposed to be arguing with me but i'm glad you agree nonetheless. If anyone out there thinks this movie makes sense....i'm waiting for you.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie but when you piece everything together it doesn't add up.
Yes, I heard about the chronology option that comes with the DVD and whilst that sounds great i fear it won't fill the holes in the plot.
Perhaps the most plausible explanation is this:
i) Lenny gets a head injury after killing one of the two attackers that rape his wife. 2) His wife survives the attack but Lenny develops the short-term memory problem. 3) Lenny's wife is diabetic but because he was able to inject her with insulin prior to the attack he can still do it with his lousy memory. 4) Lenny's wife isn't convinced that he isn't faking the condition and gets him to inject her several times within the space of a few minutes (she knows he loves her and thinks 'if he's faking it he couldn't inject me as he knows that it will kill me' 5) Lenny kills his wife by injecting her with the overdose of insulin as she 'requests'. 6) Lenny's wife is no longer around and because of his 'amnesia' he thinks that she must have been killed in the attack 7) Teddy helps Lenny to kill the attacker. 8) Lenny does not feel any meaningful sense of sated revenge as he forgets what he's done. 9) By killing the attacker Lenny's purpose in life is rendered redundent - Teddy realises this. 10) Teddy is bothing helping and using Lenny at the same time: he sets up situations so that Lenny gets to kill his 'wife's attacker' (and thus has a sense of purpose) whilst he makes money at the same time. 11) Lenny is complicit with this process as he alters the information he holds to suit his current target.
This seems to be the most sensible way of interpreting the film but it doesn't stand up to logic (Lenny claims that his wife was NOT diabetic but since this must have occurred prior to his accident he would still remember).
Any takers?
