Well, woo...
...about ten minutes ago (it's now 4.57am) I gave up trying to sleep came over, switched on my computer and lit up a cigarette, unfortunately in the process of doing this the sleeve of my cardigan caught light, the whole back of the arm went up in flame, I had to throw the thing off and stamp on it. Now it smells none too good at all.
Do you think maybe I should throw this cardigan away?

You should take it as a sign to give up smoking. |

I think I'd rather go with this one than the other suggestion, besides, I'm no quitter!

I reccomend hooded sweatshirts

Well bless you dear darwin.
LBF, the hooded sweatshirt looks ridiculous on me, I'm more of a plastic specs teamed with cardigan pale-chained-to-the-textbook-geeky-looking kind of girl really, imagine Velma from scooby doo but with better hair.
I could pull off the cord jacket with elbow patches look quite well though... hmm....

cardigans are my favoured morning apparel, and damn them, they always try to revolt and combust. Keep a bucket of sand near the PC, that will do it.

While trying to light a cigarette in the back of a very large, no-smoking lecture hall in college, I instead lit my rather long fingernail, which had nailpolish on it. Black nail polish, if memory serves. I half melted my nail off and burned the tip of my finger and it hurt like a mofo. But I couldn't make a sound lest my classmates and professor discover what the funny smell was.
Tre, keep saying "no" to the hooded sweatshirt look. And quit smoking, sister. It's hard but it's worth it.
Lecture over. Thank you for not lighting up.

cardie is ok, it's black and now has a brown streak running up one sleeve, I like the way that works though so I'm going to keep it.
Thanks ebb.
The sand idea is good but I'd just use it to stub out the cigarettes in it, it would be most unsightly
Not ready to quit smoking I'm afraid

Moving from the clown to the jester will mean moving from similar to same, from alike to identical, from comparable to analogous. Though applied differently, the colours used on one can be used on another, and a couple of changes of costume will rapidly transform the jester into a clown and the clown into a jester. Strictly speaking, they almost duplicate each other as regards clothes and function, the only difference between them, from a social point of view, is that clowns do not usually visit the palaces of kings. |

I miss smoking. I kicked a two-pack-a-day habit almost 20 years ago and I still miss it daily. Life's all about unfulfilled desire.

It's true, Whore. I'm glad I quit but the longing remains.
The worst thing is when I feel all proud of myself for having gone running or done something that's only possible if you don't smoke and then I'll be waiting in line at the grocery store or, god forbid, drunk at a bar and I'll smell cigarette smoke on someone and I wanna lunge at them and french them and get the taste in my mouth.
The craving's there every day. I repeat: life's about unfulfilled desire.

I've spent the last hour and a half listening to some music in the cavernous kitchen of my house, drinking strong black coffee, smoking cigarettes and trashing my housemate at cards.
I know I'm going to quit someday but today is not that day

Floop, you continue to amaze me, to amaze all of us. You set the standard and then you surpass it. Just when we think you're an ordinary guy just like us, you show yourself to be a superior being. I hope to one day be able to add smoking back into the mix and still run, just like you do. You have shown me it can be done and I will try to go for it myself.
If you think I am being sarcastic, you are wrong. I am serious, as I am sick of my near attempts to lick nicotine off of the mouths of utter strangers. Even I know that that's weird.
Tre, I'd lay off the strong black coffee at this time of day. Isn't it late afternoon there by now? You'll be up all night again. Do I sound like a nagging mom?

gee, why would i think you're being sarcastic? of course i'm a "superior being" ..
for the record, i was not kidding about smoking and running. i do do both. but i was kidding about being proud of it. i'd rather not smoke, but we all have our demons.

Tre, I recommend fireproof clothes. Maybe something made from salamander skin.
I've never understood the appeal of smoking. I did grow up in a house where no one smoked, though, so it just wasn't part of my paradigm.

The key is to always keep it moist. If you do it's a breathable fabric.

I´d give up jogging before smoking, Floop. Just ask Jim Fixx.
