Hey mun_chien, while you're there... I have the same question as you about Rome. I'm going there on Nov. 20th for 4 days. Anything you recommend visiting, or any restaurant? We already have the plane tickets and the hotel (Il Cappellette Di San Luigi, do you know it?).

If you don't like tourist bars the best advice I can give is stay off Plaza Real or the Ramblas (though if you must go one there I like Bosque De Los Fades beside the waxmuseum because it has trees and assorted foliage in it). Mostly what's happening here is people are going to bars less frequently in favour of social clubs, basically bars that don't publicise and consisting of a door you must knock on to be let in, Papillon off Calle Princesa being one I can think of off the top of my head, I'll keep you posted when more come to mind. If you go further out of town you end up with the rural experience of bars, for some reason they seem to find fluorescent lights glaring off grey tiled walls really tasteful.

Moving from the clown to the jester will mean moving from similar to same, from alike to identical, from comparable to analogous. Though applied differently, the colours used on one can be used on another, and a couple of changes of costume will rapidly transform the jester into a clown and the clown into a jester. Strictly speaking, they almost duplicate each other as regards clothes and function, the only difference between them, from a social point of view, is that clowns do not usually visit the palaces of kings.

newo thanks for helping out. i'll try to check those out since most probably i will have to visit the infamous ramblas.
and denis i can't really haep you out with rome. i've visited the city several times but i was always with someone that lived there. the only advice i can give you is to be careful in the metro (specially if you are dressed like a tourist with videocameras around your neck etc) and to avoid restaurants on famous places like around piazza di spagna. try walking in whatever direction from a famous site and go to the first restaurant you see. worked for me everytime i go abroad. have a nice holiday.
tonight out in barcelona, hoorah!

Oh... I saw your location was "Vatican City" and I actually thought it was true. Stupid me.

I love Gaudi so... Parc Guell and La Iglesia de la Sagrada Famillia.

The Picasso Museum is amazing...the olympic village was cool... there is one of the two churches in Spain that claims to have the body of Christopher Columbus buried there...

Have fun... I did enjoy las Ramblas and we had a pension with a shower inside for about $35 US a night that looked out on the street.

You are also a few hour train ride to the Salvador Dali museum... which was amazing

Let's Go tour book had some pretty good suggestions.... have fun....
