it's too cold in Canada, so i've decided i'm going to stay here in the US.
in an effort to reduce stress and conflict in my life, i'm joining the Bush-supporting majority.
who's with me? anyone up for some Nascar and/or gay-bashing this weekend?

honestly, now that i think about it, i did bother me that Kerry spoke French.
i don't trust anyone who speaks more than one language. especially French.

Come to think of it, floop, that's another reason to stay. Who can trust or like the Canadians with their two languages? Another reason to stay and consume. I'm gonna go out and buy me an SUV tomorrow. Of course I'm going to have to put the sucker on my credit card, but that's another way that I'm going over to the other side. Rampant spending, spending I can't afford. I might have to gain some weight, lots of it, start eating at Mickey D's. Get me some polyester to wear. This is gonna be good.

there's nothing inherently wrong with deer hunting, I take offense (not too seriously) to that one Floop. I am a nature freak, deer hunting is a good thing, as long as it is done in season. and there's nothing like being out there, feeling so close to nature. And I have some awesome recipes for preparing deer meat, however, none for quesadillas. And for the record, I kinda like nascar. I liked wrestling when I was kid, esp. Randy the Macho Man Savage and the Junkyard Dog, but it's terrible now, especially because it's fake, I used to think it was real. And I am a registered Democrat. I am for gay marriage too, that's terrible that 10-11 states banned it, now that's fucking gay.

No, the point that I was making there was that a good Republicans loves them there PLASTIC flags. You have to admit the flag seemed to get hijacked there for a little while. The Dems began showing it loud and proud because it was beggining to be associated with the right. Which just ain't right.

You have me confused. Being pro military and a proud flag raiser does not make me pro Bush.

Not everyone, buyt many people these days. I'm just getting this impression from driving around the neighborhood.
The point is this I guess; not at first (directly after sept 11th), but after (invasion of Iraq), it seemed anyone with multiple flags on display, for example: in their yard, on their car, shirt lapel etc, was in support of what was going on in other parts of the world (at our doing). Anyone against what was going on would more than likely not be displaying a flag. So suddenly it seemed we had all of these die hard conservatives proudly displaying the flag. Anytime I saw a flag on a car or in a yard i interpreted that to mean they are in favor of our actions in Iraq (I am not as you already know). I would not put a flag (plastic or otherwise) on my car, or in my yard, or on my cell phone cover, my leather jacket, my doo rag, or whatever. I do not want someone making the mistake of thinking I'm okay with the situation we've created in Iraq. I also don't like when someone tries to capitalize on the horrible tragedies this country has been experiencing these last few years. When I see anything but an actual flag made up with the colors in red, white, and blue, I look at it as someone somewhere trying to make a buck on this flag waving trend. My best friend is extremely pro Bush. He once said to me that he has a flag on his SUV and sees nothing wrong with showing support for your country. I agreed with him, but asked "when did you put that flag on your SUV?" He replied with a chuckle "9/12"
I hope that clears up the confusion.

Raising the flag, supporting our troops and being patriotic has nothing to do with Bush or the Republican party. Your so narrow minded. Try thinking outside the box.

This thread is crap. First of all what's with all the Bush gay bashing stuff. Both he and Kerry are or were against gay marraiges, but Kerry wants it left up to the states. Secondly, I voted for Bush and I do not like NASCAR, nor do I hunt. There is absolutely nothing wrong with hunting, it's just not my bag. Also, I am dead set against SUV's, crazy spending nor to I frequent fast food restuarants. Not all Americans are this stereo-type you have stated here.

in the UK, the british flag is often seen as very nationalistic (bad), mostly due to the ascociation with the National Front/BNP (extremely nationalistic, racist etc. etc. political group). no one waves their countries' flag about like the americans. |

I drive a 1972 red, white, and blue Cadillac.
Just kidding. No flags or bumper stickers for me. Afraid my vehicle or person would be assaulted by some agent of tolerance. |

Just for the record:
Nascar = Bad Wrestling = Bad Country Music = Horrible Hunting = Good Gay Marraige = I don't support it SUVs = I own one Flag Waving = Fine by me, but I don't own one Credit Card Debt = Not me Rich = Not me Quesadillas = Good
So what is that 3/10 on the Bush-supporting stereotypes.

Just for the record:
While digesting Reader's Digest In the back of a dirty book store, A plastic flag, with gum on the back, Fell out on the floor. Well, I picked it up and I ran outside Slapped it on my window shield, And if I could see old Betsy Ross I'd tell her how good I feel.
But your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more. They're already overcrowded From your dirty little war. Now Jesus don't like killin' No matter what the reason's for, And your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more.
Well, I went to the bank this morning And the cashier he said to me, "If you join the Christmas club We'll give you ten of them flags for free." Well, I didn't mess around a bit I took him up on what he said. And I stuck them stickers all over my car And one on my wife's forehead.
But your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more. They're already overcrowded From your dirty little war. Now Jesus don't like killin' No matter what the reason's for, And your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more.
Well, I got my window shield so filled With flags I couldn't see. So, I ran the car upside a curb And right into a tree. By the time they got a doctor down I was already dead. And I'll never understand why the man Standing in the Pearly Gates said...
"But your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more. We're already overcrowded From your dirty little war. Now Jesus don't like killin' No matter what the reason's for, And your flag decal won't get you Into Heaven any more."
John Prine 1971
This war, it will be just like the War on Drugs. It will be potent and effective and our objectives will be clear. The nation had a nasty drug problem and we declared a war on drugs and spent billions over many years and now you can't buy drugs anymore. It will be just like that.

Let's see here:
NASCAR = indifferent Wrestling = indifferent Country Music = Some of it is good, but a lot of what they play on the ClearChannel country stations isn't. Hunting = I don't have a problem with it, but I don't want to do it. Gay Marriage = Definitely in favor. How is it going to affect me in any way, unless they FORCE me to marry another man? SUVs = I'm okay with them, I guess, but I don't want to drive one, and they can be annoying at times. Flag Waving = Nothing wrong with it in theory, but there IS something wrong with jingoism, and a fair amount of flag wavers seem to be jingoists. Credit Card Debt = Not yet Rich = No Quesadillas = I'm not sure I've ever actually had one. I'm kind of scared of Mexican food, even though I like some of it.

sorry to offend adam. you're right. just because you're a Bush supporter doesn't mean you're a gay basher or a nascar-lover.
but, if you're a gay-basher or nascar-lover, chances are you are probably also a Bush supporter.
as for deer hunting, i don't think it's wrong per se (like Nascar), it's just that the type of people who are into it (LBF being the exception) are usually, in my experience, very right-wing.
of course all stereotypes have exceptions, but stereotypes exist for a reason: to make fun of people.
