What would you vote for as the best TV comedy?

The Office.
The best comedy programme EVER. I also know that there are at least 3 other fans on here!

Employee of the month is a good example of how somebody can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Call me crazy if you want, but they're playing "Whoopi" on French TV, and I enjoy it. Very weird cause I absolutely hate Whoopi Goldberg and every movie she's been in. But this show is really funny. From what I understand, it only lasted 1 season? Oh well.

I recently downloaded the six episodes of "Human Remains" from usenet. Very good stuff in the pseudo-documentary style of The Office (I think they both debuted in 2000). Both shows have scenes to make a sane person cringe.

Hard for me to say if either of these shows is "best," but they're both great. Historically there are too many shows to list, from "All in the Family" on up.

Freaks and Geeks is up there, though that wasn't just comedy, but with characters like Bill and Ken, it's hilarious.

I agree with you Romona, Arrested Development is great. When does the new season start? I also enjoy Curb Your Enthusasm (sp).

I second the Office as one of the funniest newer shows, though all time favourite show goes to The Simpsons followed by Family Guy.

Sealab 2021 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are real winners too. And we mustn't forget the gone but not forgotten Upright Citizen's Brigade. That show was the tits. If you're ever in NYC you should really stop by their theatre and see a show, specifically A.S.S.C.A.T.

Futurama.

But whenever, as scholars sometimes do, I turned my back on books, declaring them to be the graveyards of the language, and sought contact with the simple folk, I encountered the little cannibals who lived in our building, and after brief association with them, felt very glad to get back to my reading in one piece.

#1 for me - Jon Stewart and the Daily Show.

I also really enjoyed the Office and older Ali G (new HBO series is way too short). South Park and Simpsons too. =)

Father Ted definitely deserves a mention too. Priceless stuff - not sure if it has ever been shown over in the US / Canada though.

Has no one mentioned Seinfeld? NO ONE!?!?! Best show ever. I also love with devout passion:
Simpsons
Family Guy
The Office

I don't know if it is considered a "comedy" per se, but a recent obsession of mine is "Gilmore Girls". I'm addicted. I think it's funny. And Lorelai and Rory are hot.

I like The O'Reilly Factor myself.
Absolutely fucking side-splitting hilarity.

Futurama
Simpsons
Family Guy
Home Movies
Mission Hill
Harvey Birdman
Space Ghost
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
The Daily Show
Seinfeld
Kids in the Hall
Arrested Development

There are just way too many good shows to choose between or even mention...
There's one show I used to like I can't remember the name. It was like the simpsons but on crack...They had this family that lived on the bad side of town(where all the nuclear waste was) and they all had some sort of deformity. The Father had no arms or legs and Will Farrell did the voice. It was awesome.

Oh, and there's radio too.
There's this show called "Savage Nation" that just rips me up. I have to be careful because I laugh so hard it can get dangerous on the interstate.
Then, there's this Hannity guy...stitches man. Absolute stitches.

Best humor on the airwaves, man.

Fishing With John is another favorite. A dead pan parody of fishing shows hosted by jazz musician John Lurie with celebrity guest. Bizzare.

Nobody's gonna say "The Young Ones" or "Red Dwarf"? Is it only me?

Anyway, my vote goes to "The Simpsons" and "Futurama", excluding the first and the last seasons.

I figured that this was about current live action comedy and if that's the case it's really just Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development for me.

Are you thinking of The Oblongs? I never watched it, but that description sounds about right, based on what I've seen in commercials.
