Who wants to take a little trip with me? I think we'll be safe there... and truly free, as opposed to this whole facade of freedom that is flaunted in the good ol' U.S. of A.

Hmmm... I'm not sure the Netherlands is the best choice right now for a "safe and free" country...

Hell. Well, Canada works, too. I just wanted to go overseas cuz it sounds cooler. But Canada works, too. I'll just go far north so I won't be the victim of any stray nukes or catch much wind from idiotic Republican ramblings.

Spain is probably the most liberal country nowadays. Don't you think so, Owen?

But this will be one of the most dangerous zones at least "4 más años", so Canada is a better choice.

I don't care where I go as long as I am not here. I think I'll be on the beach in Capri.

(that said, I'm going to Rome in 3 weeks).

Dennis is right:
don't go to holland man,
this country is slowly converting to fascism
and if it won't get there the battles between
the group become harder and harder:

left vs right
native vs foreigners

this man wrote columns you know, freedom of speech right?
sure he was a pain in the ass
he offended muslims like we listen to frank black
every fucking minute of his life
he was a brave (maybe foolish) man
I didn't agree with him
but you don't murder people

sounds like a beautiful and peaceful place.
You guys should go there :)

I seriously wish that places like Canada, England, and Australia had brief "immigration sales" after shit like this. You know, like..."For one week only, for $XXX, you can move to _____. We will do a complete background check, and you can avoid all the annoying visa bullshit paperwork, and become a citizen of _____ much more easily."

I'd be in England in a heartbeat.

I still have $466 to spend on a ticket with United through Expedia...I have till February.

I guess I just wasn't made for these times.

Hey come on over! It's abit chilly this time of year though.

I visited Amsterdam in the summer and it was an extremely cool place to be. The people were very nice as well.

I seriously considered moving, either to Holland or Canada.

Never have I felt so afraid as I do this morning after the election.

Easy for you to say, Mun, sitting there in Vatican City with all those
nuns running around, wondering what's underneath their black robes. Don't forget what Joe Strummer sang, "He who fucks nuns will later join the church."

Does anybody remember this song by X? Funny how the words are true 20 years later.

what is this world coming to?
both sides are right but both sides murder
i give up why can't they?
i must not think bad thoughts
the civil wars and the uncivilized wars
conflagrations leap out of every poor furnace
the food cooks poorly and everyone goes hungry
from then on it's dog eat dog dog eat body and body eat dog
i can't go down there, i can't understand it
i'm a no good coward and an american, too,
a north american that is,
not a south or a central or a native american,
oh i must not think bad thoughts
i'm guilty of murder of innocent men, innocent women,
innocent children, thousands of them
my planes my guns my money my soul
my blood on my hands
it's all my fault....

We´ve got our own Taliban in Brussels, y´all. Yeah it´s true Spain is a liberal in certain respects Xavi, but it is one with a monarchy who believe they have a divine (i.e. genetic) right to rule, and seeing those thousands of zombies parading the streets with automatic weapons on Colombus Day didn´t exactly dissuade me of that notion. Also on the bonnet of every Guardia Civil car you know that symbol of the two axes with bundles of sticks tied around them? It´s an old Roman symbol depicting the masses (the sticks) bound together by force, and it is called ´fasciae´, where the word fascism is derived from, also the term Axis Powers in World War II. This cuddly symbol can also be seen on the US Congressional seal and the Colorado state seal.

And as for England, El Barto, it is the most-watched country in the world with 2 million surveillance-cameras (one for every 29 people, it´s been calculated if you walk a day in London you will be photographed 349 times), and Gordon Brown I hear has announced the introduction of 20,000 "community wardens". Mmm hmmm civilianised police. Party like it´s 1939.

--

But whenever, as scholars sometimes do, I turned my back on books, declaring them to be the graveyards of the language, and sought contact with the simple folk, I encountered the little cannibals who lived in our building, and after brief association with them, felt very glad to get back to my reading in one piece.

Yeah, in the United States Mexicans receive education and health benefits but it's against the law to inquire into their immigration status. Meanwhile, if we go to Mexico they hate us. Americans are so evil.

Our monarchy is a joke, Owen. It has been a joke for 2 centuries. Long jokes aren't funny.

But I'm with you about Guardia Civil. I've had the chance to meet some of them and it's like a travel in time. If some day we're in trouble, run away when you see one of them.

Chances about legalizing marijuana? I don't smoke it, so I don't care. But I would like to see it legal. Just to think: "EEHHH, We're cool"
