Ok guys and gals. In light of the Pixies reuniting, and FB+TC being on an unknown hiatus, I just remastered this show (heretofore unreleased).
Details:
Frank Black and The Catholics
Live at the Beta Bar Tallahassee, FL. March 11th 2003
This is the second show I ever recorded so it's kinda rough. I had the levels too high but didn't know it at the time (thankfully though it didn't clip). Also, Frank's road manager Scott would not let me set up my mic stand. So I improvised and taped a mic to each shoulder and stood in the middle of the room -- in the sweet spot -- without moving for the entire show (30 songs / 90 minutes!). Needless to say, this provided less than optimal sound quality -- you can tell it pegs pretty hard in the loud spots. However, considering the circumstances and the (lack of) experience I had at the time I think it came out quite well.
They are in MP3 format at 192k VBR. Sorry, I don't know how to set up a .flac torrent or whatever, nor do I have the 600MB or so that it would require to host on my server. So no complaining!
Track list!
01-Intro.mp3 02-The_Snake.mp3 03-Rock_And_Roll.mp3 04-Cactus.mp3 05-Gouge_Away.mp3 06-Beautiful_Day.mp3 07-Six_Sixty_Six.mp3 08-All_My_Ghosts.mp3 09-Monkey_Gone_To_Heaven.mp3 10-Dont_Clip_Your_Wings.mp3 11-Whiskey_In_Your_Shoes.mp3 12-Nadine.mp3 13-How_You_Went_So_Far.mp3 14-Mr_Grieves.mp3 15-Crackity_Jones.mp3 16-Men_In_Black.mp3 17-Massif_Centrale.mp3 18-Tickling_Rant.mp3 19-Where_Is_My_Mind.mp3 20-Bullet.mp3 21-Robert_Onion.mp3 22-New_House_Of_The_Pope.mp3 23-Jane_The_Queen_Of_Love.mp3 24-The_Holiday_Song.mp3 25-Cold_Heart_Of_Stone.mp3 26-Los_Angeles.mp3 27-California_Bound.mp3 28-Dirty_Old_Town.mp3 29-The_Black_Rider.mp3 30-The_Farewell_Bend.mp3 31-Headache.mp3 32-Sister_Isabel.mp3

Let me know what you think!

ps: it's still uploading so if you don't see all 32 tracks be patient.
pps: i can only leave this on my server for about a week. |

Sweet Fancy Jesus, I love you. I was at that show, but somehow got incredibly drunk and everything is patchy. Posting this is a great service to all mankind.

Ben, Goddamn, man. I'm only up to "Gouge Away," and this thing sounds great for an audience recording dropped down to MP3.
Their performance so far is fucking ferocious.
I had to skip this tour, as I was prepping for a show of my own every day their were in my general neighborhood. I've been kicking myself ever since, and now, after hearing this boot, I'm kicking myself even harder, but I'm also very grateful for the chance to hear what I missed out on.
You lucky bastard. What a show.

No, they played through December 2003.
This has been a great FB music day for me! I also just got Honeycomb! I am very happy and I can't stop exclaiming!

Thanks tons for sharing, but it seems you have cut out the inbetween song stuff? If you decide to let someone share a lossless version, I would highly recommend just sharing the entire recording without trimming it.

no, it's the entire show un-cut. frank just doesn't talk much between songs and often goes straight from one song to the next without even stopping. sorry to burst your bubble, but except for the whole tickling thing, frank didn't say much! |

Over the course of a couple days, with my slow connection, I finally got the entire show downloaded.
First, I think it's damn good sound quality. Thanks for having the endurance to stand there and record it. Oh yes, and for sharing it.
Second, what happened with Monkey and Bullet? The end from each cuts out. It's no big deal but I was wondering if maybe I messed something up when I downloaded those songs?
Third, it's great to have them doing Men In Black. Too bad the Tickler ko'd Mr. Grieves.
Anyway, this is a great show and again, kudos to you for getting such a great recoring for all of us to enjoy. |

is anyone else having problems with it? since a few people have said they have trouble with it cutting out or the songs ending abruptly, maybe i should try downloading it when i get home. it should be continuous from the first song to the last. let me know if it's not! |

If no one else had Bullet and Monkey cut out towards the end (Bullet at the very end, Monkey during the God is 7 part) then I'll try downloading them again.
Hey, regardless, it's a great show and very cool of you to share. |

Weird... a couple of song transitions sounded really weird like there was a cut there. Maybe I'm mistaken. Thanks! |

well, for the first four songs, he doesn't even stop and goes from one song to the next, often with just a chord change. he does it a few more times throughout the set. i checked, and i'm sure that everything got uploaded correctly. |

I have been listening to your download all day. It is great! I can't believe you did it all with microphones taped to your shoulder while standing in the same spot for the entire concert. Thank you so much for posting this! |
