DOn't know the set list...just going off memory: Opened with Bone machine Songs played by album Bossanova-Velouria Trompe-Planet of Sound, Head On (the crowd went off!!!), U-Mass DooLittle- Debaser, Wave of Mutilation (both versions), Tame, I Bleed, Here Comes Your Man, Monkey Gone TO Heaven, Mr. Grieves, Crackity Jones, Number 13 baby, Hey, Gouge Away Surfer Rosa/ Come on Pilgrim- Bone Machine, Something Against You, Broken Face, Gigantic, Where Is My Mind, Cactus, Caribou, Vamos, Isla De Encanta, Ed is Dead, Nimrod's Son Misc.- Winter Long, In Heaven Encore was Gignatic. I think I got everything, but I'm too hip on five dollar beers to remember. This was hands down the best show I've ever been to. The crowd was grooving heavy and soaking in every minute. Was tonight a life-altering experience? I think so. I've seen Frank w/ the Catholics five times and thought they were all moving, but this was amazing. I am fortunate enough to have tickets to Atlanta...if you're going, let me know so we can meet up. Amazing. I felt like the show lasted ten minutes. Floored. If you have tickets to see them, I apologize you have to wait. |

I agree...good show. But "Winter Long" was not played, I'm almost absolutely positive of that. Still, you're right---the vibe was nice. |

The vibe was kind of nasty down front, at least a few fights broke out over people bumping into each other. A clash between drunk meatheads, longhaired nerds with glasses. I'd venture to guess that the negative vibe had at least something to do with the one song encore (which was kind of a let down after seeing them in Spokane). However, everyone left thanking their lucky stars, as they should, that they got to see the Pixies. |

I know exactly what you mean about the vibe upfront. My friend and I kept getting groped by a few really annoying drunk girls that were trying to pull us away from the barricade. Normally, I have no problem with being groped... but these girls were just overbearing and annoying. We'd move their hands away, and they'd just get more gratuitous. After pushing backwards to get them away from me rather swiftly, as well as pointing them out to security, they finally went away.
C'mon, I'm trying to yelp along to "Caribou", and you are grabbing my ass to distract me so that you can get 6 inches closer to the stage? Should have gotten there early like we did.
As far as the actual performance: unreal. They couldn't have picked a better setlist. Or pacing, for that matter. I wouldn't have changed a single thing about their set. If anyone has a recording of the show, please let me know where it's posted... but also if you can help with putting the setlist in order!

The show was great. I got a couple of crappy pictures and some video where you can't even see because it isn't pointed at the band. I took it with my regular camera, so it's only a couple of minutes at a time, but it sounds cool.
What sucks is that the tour bus was locked behind walls and I wasn't able to try and get a photo with them after the show. Oh well, I'm exhausted from the trip, but the show was well worth it :) Maybe I'll get a chance to do it again. |

Went to both the Tampa and Orlando shows. Tampa people ought to be ashamed at their response to the band. Pixies were great but there was no connection and Frank even said about 1/2 way thru the set "Yea we sold out". Most of the folks were sitting in the stands and not much action on the floor. Very lame IMO.
Now Orlando was the best damn show I have ever seen...well close...rivals The Cure's Disintegration tour which was amazing....and I am a picky bastard. The crowd was incredible. Sold out obviously but so friggin loud and animated. Frank had a pair of cool ass shades on in Orlando and seemed to be having a great time along w/ the rest of the band. Joey's guitar solo was 3 times as long as the Tampa show. Diff song set tho somewhat close. Frank even fucked up a part on one of the songs...which one I can't remember now. The rest of the band even stopped playing. They were laughing onstage and it was pretty funny but as soon as he started again the place went mad. The whole floor was just about pogoing (is that a word?) on all the fast songs (about all of them really) and you could not hear Frank or Kim sing anything hardly cause everyone in the place was singing every line along with them. Very cool and I think it surprised them by the looks on their faces. Well those patented insane FB screams certainly did come thru. He sounds just like he did in their heyday....so did the rest of the band. Joey kicked total ass. His guitar sounds soooo good on those big PA systems. Kim sounds as sweet as always on vox and was spot on on the bass. David solid as usual. Wish he would have gone off more on Vamos though. Also no Subbacultcha on either nites....dissapointing for me but they can't play em all. Hey they did play Crackity Jones tho :) Have they been doing more than one song encores? I thought for sure they would do another one in Orlando given the crowd insanity. I did not see any negativity up in the front. In fact I spoke to many cool rabid Pixies fans I didn't even know all around me. I left right after the lights came on tho.
The Orlando concert will leave a mark on me for a long time to come. I am off to see Skinny Puppy on the 28th and although totally diff I love them just as much. I think the concert will be a letdown compared to what I just witnessed tho. Damn I wish I didn't have a life and could follow them around for the rest of the tour.... |

It was Gigantic: Kim missed her cue at the beginning of the song because she didn't hear Frank do the little cry he does and the band kept playing waiting for her to start singing ... she asked Frank if he had sung his bit and he said he had, but said he'd do it again and he did ... and that's when they were all laughing. It was good stuff! |
