I think everyone on this forum that have it already are going to buy iy, I speak for myself, and I sure will, as I did with all the others since the Pixies times... Even if it was exactly the same I would buy it!

thanks for taking the time to post jon, i'm sure any fb.net regulars who have downloaded it will be buying it the day it comes out too, such is our obsession... i get the feeling most of us would have been quite happy if this hadn't happened, and that the first time we heard the songs (complete or incomplete) was in their completed form on the actual cd complete with artwork and so on. i often wonder how these things get onto soulseek or the net before release, i mean who has access to the songs before they're released? engineers, the band, producer, potential record companies people? i don't know...
anyway best of luck with the additional mixing and producing jon and hope you find out who put the tracks on the web!

Don't worry Jon, I can tell you without a doubt that many of us usually purchase 2 or 3 copies of each FB album. Personally I purchased at least 3 copies of his 4 previous records.
Am I wrong, or is there really a female voice (Shemekia Copeland?) on 'Strange Goodbye'? I seem to remember Shemekia was supposed to sing on 'Highway to Lowdown' - which apparently didn't make the final cut.
Anyway, I'm convinced 'Honeycomb' will be a highlight in FB's career... |

i'll only be letting people i know in the frankblack.net chatroom of soulseek download it off me, because i know they'll buy it when it comes out.
btw, anyone had a go at working out any songs yet? haha. i was sitting with a guitar when listening to sing for joy, so i had a bash - i think the chords are E B C#m A... or something.

Question for Jon Tiven:
Is the track listing posted below by "The Man" himself back in April still up to date. Or have songs been shifted in order and/or cut?

with jean now confirmed as the female vocalist on strange goodbye, it is indeed the ultimate divorce song
thank you mr. tiven, the record sounds fantastic! i appreciate your participation on this board, and rest assured, at least 2 copies will be purchased first week to counter act the download. if anything, the download will make me want the completed version even more, because these songs are so compelling i can't wait to hear the finished versions.
thank you again mr. tiven

Wow, Frank and Jean singing Strange Goodbye, that is absolutely amazing!
Red = Jean Blue = FB Black = Both
Strange Goodbye
I used to walk in a big black cloud You took my hand and you led me out A nest of demons played on my chest You picked me up and you laid them to rest
It's a pain to be sure, we were aiming so high It's so strange to be saying good-bye
We saw the world from an automobile Saw the best news views over 10000 meals Funny how an evening turns into years Funny how we're laughing through all of these tears
It's a pain to be sure We sure gave it a try It's a shame to be saying goodbye
Oh, my darling, shall we have one more dance A prayer to the rain god to give one more chance The water will cleanse us as we spin on the plain Take us to the ocean to find them again
It's a pain to be sure, we were aiming so high It's so strange to be saying good-bye It's a pain that endures, we sure gave it a try It's so strange to be saying good-bye

Jon - please don't tell us that songs like 'Kiss My Ring', 'Highway to Lowdown' or 'Sad Man's Song' will end up as b-sides or i-tunes exclusives...
You know, some of FB's best songs ('Valley of Our Hope', 'Pan American Highway', 'Preacher's Daughter', just to mention a few) were released as b-sides or exclusives, and it makes me / us SOOOO sad for The Man... Please tell him not to do that anymore!
Oops, one more thing - did you find a label for 'Honeycomb'? |

i want to personally assure Jon and Frank himself that I will be purchasing this album the day it comes out.
I did the same thing with Show Me Your Tears,, I drove 75 miles out of town to get to a store that carries lesser known music just to buy SMYT, after I had already downloaded it months prior to release.
I am the kind of huge fan that SUPPORTS frank, and would gladly pay 50 bucks per album if that's what he was charging. I told frank in person to "never stop , keep it up" becuase i love everything he releases. and I always will.
Love the album, can't wait to hear the final product!

Nothing has been thrown out. "Sad Man's Song," "Kiss My Ring," etc have been saved for what may be the second disc of HONEYCOMB.
Details coming before the month is out. I will be especially motivated to impart information if you all go out and buy copies of Ellis Hooks' album UNCOMPLICATED which I produced, recommend highly, and would appreciate the new soundscans.
If that sounds like I'm looking for a bribe....hey, I do you a favor you do me a favor. Ellis sings harmonies on HONEYCOMB and he's a new artist so he's still finding his audience. Think of him as a cross between John Fogerty and Otis Redding.
That's it for now. I will be watching those soundscans...
best, JT
Already purchased the Ellis Hooks album. Great album. |

Thanks for the post Jon. Ive heard five of the songs so far and they sound fantastic. Will of course buy the album the first day it hits the stores, but I just cant resist the temptation to hear it before then if its possible. Perhaps if you get the chance, you could remind Frank that his two solo gigs scheduled for Australia last year sold out in record time. Unfortunately the trip had to be cancelled, but we can't wait much longer....its been ten years!!!! |

The second disc??? Wow. I guess you mean a bonus cd for the French edition? :)
Seriously, I'd like to know a lil' more... Do I have to understand that Frank recorded more than 19 songs?

Since this seems to be an "unplanned" leak, should we discontinue the sharing of honeycomb? It is rediculous to think that "limited" sharing on soulseek will keep Honeycomb from spreading - which may very well affect the financials of Black. I vote no more share. |

Oh, come on guys! Try to be realistic. Nobody's gonna stop that. No one buys an album to hear it these days. It's faster (and cheaper) to download it. I've downloaded movies and records (and you, probably) before they were released in my country. Think about it, the number of computers is increasing every minute as well as bandwidth. New artists have started to share their songs for free. There is no way to stop it.
True fans are the only ones who will pay for this record, so Frank has nothing to be worried about.

That said, I'll wait for "Honeycomb" release to hear it. And, if you know who leaked it, take your time to kill him/her really, really slowly.

i wouldn't worry too much people, there's always a percentage of people who will download and not buy a certain album. i know it's a shame for it to be leaked so early - i kind of feel sorry for frank. but then again, i have a feeling only the fans are gonna hear about this leak and download it. these are the fans who are most likely going to buy it when it comes out anyway. it's not like everyone outside of his fanbase is talking about it - don't kid yourselves ;) |
