Cult - A downloadable advance version is an idea. I will pay for album when it comes out as I too would like to have an official album in my collection with art and notes, etc. Plus I want to support Frank and friends.

An I Tunes release could be a possibilty.

I've only got 'Sing for Joy' as yet. Wonderful song.

And I shall definately buy the album when released, too.

I am in the same boat. I feel a gigantic amount of guilt for downloading this but I'd pay for it right now if I could. Someone take my freaking money already so I can get this monkey off my back.

I've passed my idea along to management, so we'll see what happens. It would have to be set up rather quickly.

Well they need to do something quick. Pixies fans are out in force, and I don't want Frank to miss out on a lot of sales because of this.

hey guys im listening to the album

All i can say is describe the opposite of the pixies and you'll review the album instantly!

Very relaxed...frank speak/sings ..hardly any distorted electric

it seems like frank getting music out of his system after the divorce.i.e like tunes he's hummed or thought to keep himself to deal with life. It's not overly emotive more of a lull or mulling of an album. lyrically good though

The slicker production, the song content/structure leave me wanting some a little more, i'd say 3/10....considering all his other albums. 4.5/10 on its own

thats my two pence

Honeycomb Lyrics

The old churchyard,
Is where I faded,
She watched me while,
I fell unaided,
And in my time
When God's army came and got me

I could not find my honeycomb x3

Cherry brown,
Lips of maple
Olive greens
Her eyes in basswood
And in that town
As I walk as a deserter

I could not find my honeycomb x 3

Dance for god
Dance for maybe
The rich will love
A fake ?urany?
And in my mind
As I fly above the churchyard

I could not find my honeycomb x6

Kiss My Ring

If you knew what I'd forsaken
And you see me in my gown
It'd be him that wears the crown
Spilled my seed upon the ground

Go tell all the mountains
If you think I'm mistaken
Bathe him in a fountain
With the accountant

CHORUS
Kiss my ring
I am the greatest
Kiss my ring
Now let it linger
Kiss my ring
Now here's the latest
Kiss my ring
My magic finger
Kiss my ring x2

Go tell all the mountains
If you think I'm mistaken
Bathe him in a fountain
With the accountant

CHORUS

I've listened to about five tracks & really like them all - so far w/ My Life is in Storage being a standout. Frank just turned down the distortion knob & moved in tight to the microphone - but the songs are undeniably FB.

I BURN TODAY

I knew a girl
with sad blue eyes
but at the feast
i lost my psychic prize

i did forget what the tarot maid did say
I burn today, i burn today

our house was filled
with many birds
she said to me
i can understand their words

the land will shake
so run away
i burn today, i burn today

yesterday i will burn
for the times i did not learn

she said our fun
it's time has come
hold my heart strings
and have yourself a strum

no never more
this song will we play
i burn today, i burn today

and as i drank
in old paree
she lay her cards just to see what she could see
down by the water you'll find your happy days
i burn today, i burn today

yesterday i will burn
for the times i did not learn

i ran so fast into the north
no snow on me and so you said thenceforth

i let snow fall on frozen yesterdays
i burn today, i burn today

and if my head is hanging down
i feel her arms and her legs are all around
and we make love beside the waterway

i burn today, i burn today

Yesterday I will burn
for the times I did not learn

Behold the rose
of jericho
how many lives I really do not know

the withering, i know it will return
today i burn, today i burn
-------------------------

This CD is growing on me. God I love "I Burn Today".

I think someone mentioned "dark end of the street" as not possibly being a FB song....it's not...(not sure if this was already mentioned)....it's a Flying Burrito Bros. song from their debut w/Gram Parsons. In fact, the 10 songs from Honeycomb that I can get to play remind me much of the 2 FBB albums w/Parsons as well as his solo stuff.

Not sure what the story is with your tracks not playing but I've got all the tracks and they all play no problem.
Sorry man.
Could it just be a weird glitch?
The person I got it from, I think they got it from the same source as you. Not sure though, obviously.

This album has a lot of great songs. Pretty much every song is wonderful. I can't stop dancing around my living room to Go Find Your Saint. It's making my dog howl at me.

LOL.

Ok i'm helping Mike out. It's weird that we're from the same backwards ass town in KY. 0_o

But yes, I am now in love with the album. Anything negative I said about it beforehand, I take back. Doesn't top Black Letter Days, but comes closer than SMYT did.

10/10 Keep kicking ass, Frank. (Bring back the Catholics)

It's not a Flying Burrito Bros. song exactly. "Dark End of the Street" is a soul music standard (co-written by Dan Penn, who worked on Honeycomb) covered by many, many musicians from the 60s on up to today. The version that's probably most well-known is by James Carr, who had a big hit with it in the mid-60s.

Hey eebee, I have some different lyrics than you. Also, the song is called Selkie Bride...

Selkie Bride

Human form she had,
In crescent city, she showed me her pity,
Lucky me

In a storm so bad,
The worst of the autumn,
She came from the bottom of the sea

Please won't you stay a while,
Gimme your coat,
Then we'll fall in love in my boat,
You'll be my selkie bride,

Please give me no denial
A promise I give
I'll forsake the life that I live
Now you're by my side

If you return again
I'll be the saddest man
My lips will burn your skin
If you return again
Please don't return again (x3)

Human form she had,
In crescent city, she showed me her pity,
Lucky me

On that day so sad,
Breezy and sunny,
She melted like honey in the sea

A selkie (or silkie) is a Scots word for seal. In folklore, the seals can shed their skin and assume human form, hence Frank's selkie bride. If anyone is interested there is much more info here:

The Shrimp Song is really good. I've heard him sing it on some live stuff, but this version is a lot better. It's kind of ridiculous in a way. Overly dramatic.

I agree with whoever said the true tracklist and order is better, but I'm sad that A Sad Man's Song didn't make the cut. That's a good one.

Who's the female singer on Strange Goodbye?
