You need to get your ass up north or give us a few weeks notice and we could sort out a weekend in London on your way back.

Yeah, I just don't have enough time to explore around Scotland and get to London by the night of the 15th. I really did want to see more of the UK than London, but...

Once again, Dean, if you visit France next summer (or later), I'll be happy to give you shelter for as long as your stay lasts. I live in Strasbourg, the biggest city of Eastern France - probably the most interesting also if you're interested in history, medieval art, that kind of stuff. Many lovely places around. Excellent food and wines ;) |

Frog: email coming at 'ya.
The rest of you, alright, I guess that maybe we'll see you on the way out. Or if I for some reason decide to stay in the UK past London. I managed to find a place quite a bit cheaper than I'd budgeted after all. Still haven't decided on my travels from Edinburgh to London, so there's a chance I may end up northerly yet. British Airways wants 180 pounds for the flight (one way) and 90 return (which I wouldn't take). Seems patently ridiculous to me. But there are probably cheaper regionals, no?

train or bus - seriously - you'll get to see more of the country and the trains or buses at least stop in the centre of most cities unlike the small regional airports.

Well, the 90 pound one was to fly on a Sunday, it was something like 20 there, and then 13 back and then apparently a gazillion in fees.

£65 inc tax through opodo, £67 through bmi.... with the train is it the time or the cost thats more of an issue? there are ways around these huge fares sometimes

It's a little of both. I have to agree with Surfer that I'd like to see more of the country, so even if I leave a day earlier and get halfway there and then the other half on the 15th, that might be an option. Then I just have to pick a half-way point that's worth stopping at and is accessible from London and Edinburgh.

Manchester isn't on the way without a couple of train changes, it's either west coast and cumbria or east coast and yorkshire

I need my book to look at what's where and what's going on in either of those locales. I can survive a train change or two if it doesn't eat up a lot time.

You're all cool/worth meeting. Kitty has proven her coolness to me many times over, however. And I therefore owe her some beverages.

Alright, so I've done Scotland, am in London (the premiere party was excellent, by the way, though I sadly didn't win myself a ticket to get into the premiere despite having two 1/40 shots at it). The worst part was some people who didn't seem to give a damn won. Oh well.
Anyway, I'm here 'til the 20th then I'm actually flying over to Portugal (Porto). Which means that contrary to earlier reports, I will be in Portugal and Spain if anyone would like to meet up with me/donate a room/floor/couch/bed in my honour, message me here or better still, email me. Probably heading from Porto->Lisbon (maybe I'll go to Sintra) then into Spain to see Madrid and not sure where else yet. THEN into France.
Hope you guys are behaving! :)

Heh, yeah, she was in Regina, I was at Buckingham Palace. Coincidence? I don't think so. SOMEone has to run the kingdom while she's away.
I don't know where you found that bus deal, Sir Benji, but I didn't find anything less that £40. And given that I was going all the way from Inverness and was going to have a long day on the 15th, I thought it better to train it anyway. I've got to say that the 8 hour train ride was incredible and well worth it.
Also, thanks Mike. Hope to see you on the other side!

certainly is. was quite possible the best 3 pounds we ever spent in the UK. sure, the air con didn't work and we had to be diverted to some nothing town in the middle of nothing-ville, but it certainly was an adventure.
