i've only recently been exploring his body of work and i'm not sure where to go from here. ENTER THE DRAGON and EYE FOR AN EYE were both excellent films for playing out my domination-of-everyone fantasies. and both have excellent cinematography and sound work..
but then i moved on to SLAUGHTER IN SAN FRANCISCO (aka "KARATE COP") and found the fight sequences derivative of his other work. also, the fact that a police officer in San Francisco would be trained in martial arts kind of took me out of the movie, since i know that that's not the case. having visited San Francisco.
which other films are worth checking out?

Floop, can I jump in here a sec, eventhough I don't have any recommendations for you?
My high school buddy tells a great story of filming in Hawaii an ad for Japanese TV starring Chuck Norris, but I forget the story. Sorry. OK. I'll just leave now. But I'll leave you with this image of male virility at its cheesiest:

He's always seriously grossed me out. His movies are the one context where "grody" deserves to be used.
I do enjoy Conan O'Brien's "Random-Chuck-Norris-Clip Lever", though.

I snuck into a theater to see A Force of One and felt ripped off.

there's a lot going on in Chuck Norris movies. you have to pay attention.
even though i didn't completely enjoy SLAUGHTER IN SAN FRANCISCO (aka "KARATE COP") i did appreciate the critique-of-genetic-agriculture subtext

i once was walking along the beach on paradise island in the bahamas with my brother, and about 100 yards ahead we saw this big circle of men in black tshirts walking towards us. upon further inspection there was one guy in the middle not in a black tshirt. as they approached, we noticed that the shirts all said "team chuck" on them and mr. norris himself was in the center. i said "hey chuck" as we passed and he gave me the most enthusiastic "heeeeeeeey" that i have ever heard. it was like we were long lost brothers. and perhaps we are

Grody is such a great word. Thanks for using it, Apl. And in such a perfect context.

you obviously weren't clued into the subtext of SIDEKICKS. on one level, straightforward martial arts/action movie. on another level, subtle examination of feminimism and political representation in visual art

Floop, Enter the Dragon doesn't contain Chuck.... you are thinking of Way of the Dragon.
I picked up Missing in Action the other day.... a must see for any Chuck appreciators. Delta Force 2: The Columbian Connection is also a lost classic.

This thread reminds me of the scenes in Paul Calf's video diary, where Fat Bob is talking about a Chuck Norris film having the line "you've got shit on your shoes and I'm the shoe shine boy".
Later, when Paul is pissed, he remembers it as "you've got shit shoes on, you shitty shoed bastard".
Was this line ever in a Chuck Norris film? |

My uncle loves Walker Texas Ranger and whenever there is a bad guy (which is often, obviously) he says "that guy wants to taste some of Walker's boot!" and its stupid but cracks me up.

He fights Bob Wall in both, but Norris is only in Way of the Dragon. |

I like two things about Chuck Norris :
his haircut
when he cries after the bad guys kill his dog
I will show you fear in a handful of dust |

Wow.... so even Chuck used to like to stay on after school and climb the ropes. We have something in common!

Hehehe, good luck with that. It would be quite easy to work this into conversation at a bowling alley.
I think the quote might actually be in the film "Missing In Action". |
