Forum's not been loading for me till today, assuming it's been the same for everyone else as this hasn't been posted yet - and holy Toledo, I gotta say:
https://www.brooklynvegan.com/pixies-announce-bossanova-trompe-le-monde-reissues-ft-unreleased-songs/
Pixies have been celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and that continues with the announcement of new remasters of 1990’s Bossanova and 1991’s Trompe le Monde, due out on September 11. In addition to the standard black vinyl (which is available for pre-order now in the BV shop) there are also two limited edition vinyl pressings with bonus 7#8243;s exclusive to Dinked’s new “Dinked International Editions.” Those have four previously unreleased songs from 1987-1991: “Dig For Fire” (Albini Version) and “Go Man Go” on Bossanova (which also comes with a 16-page, 10#8243; replica of the original UK booklet with the incorrect track listing) and “Brackish Boy” and “Punk Loop” on Trompe le Monde.
Both albums were remastered by Kevin Vanbergen, and here’s more about the unreleased songs from a press release:
Side A of the special Dinked Bossanova 7” is a Steve Albini recording of “Dig For Fire”, recorded in late 1987 during the sessions for Surfer Rosa, and sounding far removed from the version they released almost 3 years later. Side B is “Go Man Go”, a once near-mythical Black Francis and Kim Deal co-write that was recorded by both Pixies and The Breeders during the album sessions for Bossanova and Last Splash respectively (but failed to make the cut for either). Outside of appearing on a bootleg tape of Breeders demos and them airing it a few times live at the time, the song faded from view until 2023 when, upon discovering the lost master for it, The Breeders included their version on their 30th anniversary reissue of Last Splash.
On the Trompe le Monde bonus 7”, Side A is “Brackish Boy”, known more as a Frank Black song as he recorded it again for his eponymous 1993 debut solo album. This early version has been mastered direct from the album session tape and with no post-production. The flip side features the least conventional track of the four, “Punk Loop”. It was recorded in 1991 during the Trompe le Monde sessions, labelled simply as ‘Punk Loop’ MSTR.

| This is incredible news (I think I literally gasped when I read it) but why not do a full-on deluxe edition with the entire Trompe demo? |

| OMG OMG OMG - I fully expected reading this post it would be something like Bossanova and TLM on pink vinyl, nice book, stickers but as usual no new songs. I am floored by this news. Unheard Pixies during the original run! And on a 7 inch! I CANNOT WAIT for this!! |

| Great news, but a few pretty major caveats: there were already Bossanova and TML reissues just a couple years ago, and now it turns out I made a mistake in buying them as a definitive reissue was just around the corner. Those 7" are very exciting, but they are only available at records stores partnered with the company. That might be fine in the UK which is geographically more compressed, but in North America there seem to be only a dozen or so stores, none in Canada, and if I recall correctly, none in the US northeast. So the most exciting thing about it will only be available for those blessed to be within a few hours driving distance of random stores scattered across the vast continent. Lastly, these tracks would have nicely filled out side D of the B-sides and rarities reissue (along with "I Can't Forget" and the few other strays) rather than more live 1.0 material. |

| How do you work out that this release will only be available at a partner store? |

My understanding is that the 7"s are only available through the "Dinked International Editions," run by the company Dinked which makes special editions exclusively for partnering record stores. The 4AD reissue, on the other hand, is the new analogue remaster without the 7" bonus tracks. |

This is not good news at all Just a few places in the UK and the US It's hard to get a copy and expensive if you can't pick it up locally
We all are probably gonna hear the "new" songs online soon But I rather give Pixies my money, instead of the postal office and the tax man

Yeah that sucks. We want the full Malta Tapes! Guess you've got to save some unreleased stuff for the next remaster, or the one after...

Oh well, that's not so good and more than annoying. |
