Would you guys trade in 100% of Pixies 2.0 albums and songs that we currently have to be returned for one album of 12 songs that you love as much as bossa nova or TLM?
Yes. Honestly it's so much more satisfying to me to have one awesome album than a bunch that have some good songs and a lot of mediocre stuff. Probably the only newer Pixies albums i feel like revisiting sometimes are BTE and that demo album.
In comparison a band like My Bloody Valentine. They released like 1 album in the last 15 years or something? But it's a quality shoegaze album and is still enjoyable to revisit.
As to this thread- I'm really enjoying Kim's album. I always appreciate how she sticks to the indie sound ethos over the years. Makes her albums enjoyable for me to listen to and revisit over the years. |

Perhaps one should try having a baby and then listening to the song Nobody Loves You More. The tears will come. |

So we’re trading five 2.0 albums plus B-sides and singles for 12 songs? That’s a big trade to make, but the 1.0 quality is hard to argue with.
If we applied this to all FBF albums and asked how many of those would we condense / trade for a couple more masterpieces, we would have what, 8-9 albums to the man’s credit as opposed to the twenty something we actually have (check my math)
I’m not sure I would make the trades, but I can see why some would
Back to Kim’s album, I really dig it, and her mainstream Breeders stuff too, but like FBF I don’t believe she has reached Pod level quality in anything she’s done since
One more thing - “Don’t split your sails over me” on Who’s More Sorry Now, and Kim is on the water on the cover of Nobody Loves You More |

To be clear I do appreciate that Frank Black releases so much music. I still look forward to his work. Even Pixies albums that some might rate lower I still find songs I like in it.
I don't think maybe a bit of a different approach could hurt tho if they ever wanted to try that, whether that be marinating songs a little more or getting a more indie producer on board, etc. |
