Its citizens, or the murder of allies???? more Brits were killed during the Gulf by the trigger happy US Army during the 'friendly fire' incident, and unfortunately I believe the same thing happened to the Canadians a short while ago.... goes to show that the expensive and top range equipment that the US manufactures is working well, along with their malfunctioning brains.... 1999, Belgrade, the US delivers missile to the Chinese embassy killing a number of Embassy workers in the process as a result of 'out of date maps.'
Sorry, but I just don't trust the US's judgement........ Just hope us Brits don't make the mistake of following them. |

I don't know what's true or false anymore. I don't trust anyone on this subject anymore.
I believe above all else because it's common sense that Flight 93 was shot down by the US air force. To protect whatever that plane would have hit. Whether it was more people, monuments or buildings, that plane had to come down.
It's convenient to make the passengers "heroes" and to toss out Schwarzeneggar-isms like "Let's Roll" as a quote for the media and old folk/rock gods to use in their latest blurbs.
Just don't try to mother-hubbard soft soap me for a pocketful of hope, money for rope or money for dope. I don't care that they shot it down, but don't lie about it.
That's all I am saying with the whole thing. When are we going to stop being lied to as a nation. Advertisements, the cult of celebrity, Corporate America, the have and have nots.....it's all lies.
And the biggest fattest liar of all liars is the President of the United States of America. He snorted his coke with a silver spoon. He's Daddy's last hope to get the job done. He bought his way into office.
Being lied to is disrespectful. I want a leader I can respect. |

"Remember the Maine! To Hell with Spain!"
I just want to tell a very beautiful tale about a boat called Maine. Once upon a time (1898) there were two countries: Spain and the USA. The first one was an old decaying but still dreary imperial superpower. The other one was a very new country no-one took seriously in Europe. There was a rich guy in the USA (William Randolf Hearst or "Citizen Kane" if you prefer) that said he could make up a war just using his great influences as an owner of some important papers. And there was an American boat that accidentally exploted near Cuba (that belonged to the Spanish crown). Some Spanish soldiers from boats near the place where the accident took place helped the castaways and saved the lifes of many of them. But the papers told another story: "Spain blows up the Maine. War!!". You all know what happened then: Spain lost a war that every European country believed that could not be lost and this happened because Spain didn´t took seriously the menace of that "new and unimportant country". Spain sent her oldest boats and very few soldiers. And since then, Spain became a "decayed and unimportant country" and the USA rule the world. Think about this if you like:
* The USA invented a war that didn´t exist but in their papers. It happened again in certain ocassions during the XX century, you know.
* A superpower was defeated by a minor country due to excesive vanity and a lack of prevention. Minor countries can be dangerous.
* History tells us some lessons that may be considered.
* This time the "minor" countries may kill millions of people with horrible weapons and may have allied superpowers. * The USA is the only country that used atomic bombs on civil population (Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Never before a country killed so many civils in the name of "freedom". So the USA have shown that their leaders will not even blink at the fact of throwing nuclear missiles on cities. But this can only be the beggining of Armageddon.
* Do you remember these facts?:
- The German democracy votes for Hitler - Hitler needs steel - Poland has steel - Hitler rushes into Poland and takes the steel
Aren´t they similar to these?: - The American democracy votes for Bush - Bush needs fuel - Iraq has fuel - Etc........
Please don´t forget that YOU, THE PEOPLE FROM AMERICA HAVE POWER TO STOP THIS BLOODY WAR. Please FIGHT FOR PEACE.

Dave Noisy wrote: "Here's what i've heard from some of these patriotic buffoons. (I haven't done much travelling, so i'm going entirely on 2nd-hand info.)
Many countries are quite annoyed with Americans. I've heard that Americans are often very rude, selfish and self-righteous. (I'm not saying this is true, but this is what i've heard folks from other countries say.)
Due to this, many places are not very 'warm' to Americans.
Canadians can be difficult to discern from Americans, we don't really have different accents, wear similar cloths, say similar things, etc..
So in order to avoid being mistaken for an American, they will be overt in making it clear they are Canadian. Many traveller friends tell me they get a sigh of relief from whatever person, and are treated quite nicely and hear several explitives about 'those Americans'. (You might hear similar stories about Aussies and Kiwis..hehe..)
Again, this is what i've heard. My friends could be lying of course.
Anyone care to verify this from first-hand experience?"
I am Spanish and have travelled all around Europe several times. I must say that´s all true. There´s a very extended sense of aniamericanism all around Europe. It is generally thought that Americans have no culture, no history, no scrupples, no intelligence and no taste in anything. Usually, Europeans hate American food, American clothes, and so on. But the fact is that everyone (even French gourmettes) goes to Mc Donald´s and wacht Disney movies and wear Nike shoes and Levis´ jeans. Perhaps it´s a visceral reaction to an unestoppable cultural invasion but I think the Europeans despise Americans because of the agressive and intrussive politic of their leaders. You, Americans, should be very aware of the feelings of hate you awake in Europeans. I must say that most people in Spain said that the Americans deserved what happened on September 11. Lots of people even celebrated the fall of the towers.
P.S.: I´m just explaining an actual fact. Don´t bury me. I don´t consider myself so simple minded as to confound the American people with their leaders and as to think American culture as an "inferior" one. I worship many of your wise men of all times: writers, scientists, etc. And I could never justify so many lives lost. But really I think that the USA have done awful things to other people and that they shall have their revenge. So I think that the USA will not be in peace again and that the USA should worry a little about what the rest of the world think of them.

I see the sheer hatred in Europeans eyes everyday, while they tour Times Square, and spend lots and lots of Euros on crappy American souvenirs immigrant merchants are only happy to sell to their own brethren. Everyday, Europeans spit on the Federales while they get their Greencards and passports stamped by the INS. I'm not happy Bush is our President, but I can't stand European arrogance either!
P.S. This isn't against you Azofaifa, but really I think that Europe should look at themselves first and wonder why the E.U. sucks! (politically)
P.P.S. I still love Europe, and their music, and their Azofaifa! |

You´re right. Perhaps it´s just a question of xenophobia. It´s the old fight between "us" and "they". As old as the human race. When I was younger I used to think that new technologies would bring us all closer. But it didn´t happened.

That says more about the Spaniards than the Americans. There's idiots everywhere. I hope to never celebrate the deaths of thousands of people, innocent or gulty. |

I agree..... theres one thing saying that America deserved an attack of some kind, or less blunty put were asking for trouble due to their foreign policy. But for people to actually celebrate the falling of the towers, knowing full well that innocent people were being killed, is nothing short of a fucking disgrace. I know for a fact that people here in China celebrated..... and I am deeply angered by what I hear. When some students boast about how people raised their fists in celebration, I ask about the innocent people who died. On some occasions I get a moronic response like 'There were no Chinese.'
What is this world coming to when people celebrate the deaths of thousands of innocent people????

I don't think anyone here said Americans hate the French. The comment was a sarcastic one, meaning Europeans hate Americans when it's convenient to do so. Get it? |

Of course the French hate the Americans, they hate the British too.... despite the fact that if it weren't for the US and UK then they'd be wearing long leather coats, walking to work adopting the style of the goose step and speaking German.....
There is a reason for my sarcastic pop at the French... What I meant by the above is that surely nobody really hates each other, its just the trend to say so. For example, Canadians hate Americans, British hate the Welsh, and French, the Aussies hate the Brits.... blah blah blah. Its just petty rivalries between countries saying that you hate each other, when in fact nobody really means it.... or do you??? I live next door to Wales, and it is common for both sides of the border to say that we hate each other, and give each other shit, but in reality these are just bullshit words... usually fuelled by alcohol. The only time that I hate the Welsh is when we play them in the Rugby Six Nations tournament....
Hate is a strong word, maybe if we all really hated each other then there would be alot more war in the world between some of the bigger powers. Maybe 'irritate' is the correct word.

i'm french. i don't hate américan people, or british people, or anybody you want. we must love each other. but, american government suck. the only reason for why they are now in the desert is for petrol. for the 11th sept., well, is anybody know the "northwoods operation"? in 1962, american military wanted to organise *operations* in there own territory, for justify the invasion of cuba. some exemple of those opérations?
- attack of the guantanamo base - to shoot down a american boat in the cuban territorial area - to shoot down a nasa fly (with scott glenn in it)and off course say that it's because of a missile from cuba (!!!) - and, to shoot down a civil fly. (does it remember something to you?)
well, the want that few years ago... it's already the same kind of persons at the head of those institutions. nothing else to say

They do the same thing in Britain as well.... a few months ago they issued a warning to the British public saying that a chemical attack was basically imminent... then withdrew the issue, amended it and reissued so that it was a little less harsh.
The US government do like to scare monger it seems....

Believe it or not the Chinese seem more passive about this situation than the UK and US.... I only watch the English language news over here and they pretty much just report what the rest of the world are saying, I'm pretty sure that the Chinese have yet to issue warnings on national t.v., although they do agree that terrorism in any form should be eradicated.
