hello friends. i have a band called Tom Bloch here in Brazil and we were confirmed to play at South By Southwest festival in Austin, TX, in march. as you know, my country is pretty far from the US, and we'd love to play more shows during that period.
i've emailed the bennies [a great band that i discovered here at the forum] and mr. taz bentley, but I got no response yet :( i'd like to know if any of the musicians here at the forum would like to give us a hand. anyone interested in sharing a stage with six brazilian rockers?
you can hear us at http://www.usinadosom.com.br - there are 3 matches for Tom Bloch. our first Ep called Demo Deluxe, the new cd called Tom Bloch and a compilation called Baladas do Bom Fim. go directly to Tom Bloch and please, tell me whether you like us or not.
my email is gsapo[a]uol.com.br
thank you very much! guilherme |

I don't want to sound offensive, but there is a good online resource called Book Your Own Fucking Life, which can helped you out. It seems to be offline right now, though, due to technical difficulties...maybe you can find a printed copy somewhere in Brazil? Like some kind of America zine importer...dunno what else to tell ya. |

it's offline, yeah. i don't know what it's about, exactly, but we book our fucking life here in brazil, because we know people who knows people [we don't have a tour manager] and so on. it's a lot easier when you know the cities and know that some bands have played this or that place at some specific town. we're very familiar with all the touring thing here, but i really don't have a clue about any club in austin or some city near that could be an interesting place for us to play. |

Last Beat Records is a record label out of Dallas, Tx, and they have had many a band from their label play at SXSW.
E-mail Tami@lastbeatrecords.com or find her on the Last Beat Forum. They also accept unsolicited material so send them your EP ASAP. I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but good luck any way.
PS. I don't know the people who work at this record label which means I'm not connected with them in any way. In other words, my name means diddly squat to them.

This is kind of a lame suggestion, but if you want to get the names of the many clubs in Austin (or other nearby (nearby in Texas being 3 hours driving) towns like San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston)) why not go to pollstar.com and do a search for shows in Austin, TX. That will give you the names of many clubs and often will have links to the clubs. Good luck. Your best bet in Texas for clubs that offer Frank Black-like music is Austin. |
