If I so happen to find myself buried alive (somewhere in Southwest Asia; LOL) I would love to listen to 'Bartholomew' on repeat until I sang my Oxygen away!

Okay I'm in... an American Slagged the war... stupidest most unlogical explaination for any violent confrontation... Remember "Operation Enduring Freedom" is only "Operation Infinite Justice" renamed so much more politically corect and while the function of the operation doesn't seem to change... Get ready for infinite civillian casualties in the middle east yet again... what a useless cycle of violence... for the money the US could have health care...

No no, you've got it all wrong. Don't you see the brilliant plan? After Exxon-Mobil takes over Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen and Syria, any wars fought will pay for themselves. Texaco will "bring stability to the region". Brilliant! |

Mascis isn't going inside any caves. I'll just position my Marshall stacks at the entrance, plug my Jazzmaster through a Big Muff, set the tone to full fuzz and wail away. I'll have al-Queda screaming for Allah with the most ear-piercing double bends they've ever heard. I'm gonna martyr them with Start Choppin'. |

It'll be like when we flushed Noreiga out with "Welcome to the Jungle" only this time it'll be "The Wagon". Do you think you could record a version in Arabic? I think it would be more effective if they understood your bad lyrics.

Air force eh? Let's hope for a Road to Basra II. The bravery shown by American pilots during the first one is unparalell to any air force feat I've ever heard of. |

The Wagon was originally written in Arabic; therefore, it doesn't translate well. So please take that into account before you label them as bad lyrics. |

My Dad is over there (ARMY) and it fucking sucks! I'll be pretty pissed if he dies for oil, or better yet, money. Did you guys know that 90% of the Bush family wealth comes from oil? Yeah. They say this is a war against terrorism. That is a bunch of crap I tell you. Terrorism? Not one of the hijackers during 9/11 was from Iraq. It is too bad that this nation full a bunch of lazy slobs who have no idea what is really going on. Moreover, these people don't care what is going as long as they have their football and what not. One of my professors, a former marine, made a good point by saying, "It seems to me that the only people that are for this war are the ones that have never been in a war."

Some of you are confusing political persons with military personnel. Members of the armed forces don't want to go to war. Yes they signed the dotted line so they do know the risk, but joining the military is not a licensed to kill. At the end of the work day their job is to make it home safe to a loving family and, hopefully, a sympathetic public. People are already jumping on the band wagon to protest a war that hasn't even started. Sure, war seems imminent but how about doing something original for once and support the men and women of the armed forces who are putting their life on the line so you don't have to.
TOTIPOTENT came on here to say goodbye to us for awhile. He didn't ask for our political views or give us his.
Take care "T" and come back safe.
ps. Bashing Presidents is easy. All President's at one time or another make a decision to send troops into harms way. I should know, one sent me to war in 1994, but I'm sure everyone has forgotten about the war in Haiti already.
There is also a very good chance that I will get the call again and go from reservist to active duty very soon. It will disrupt my family and professional life, but I knew the risks. We serve so you don't have to.
Incase you cared I'm a

It is not the troops over there I am protesting against. It is our goverment. True, a war hasn't started yet, but it just looks so inevitable right now. Thomas is right though; TOTIPOTENT just wanted to say goodbye. I do not want to be misunderstood however. My heart goes to ever soldier out there and every soldier that has served this country. I would hate to see a repeat of what happened with the Vietnam Veterans when they came back. That would be aweful. On the other hand, I think it is more than okay to disagree with a war just as long as the soldiers are not spat upon. Perhaps people think I am spitting on the soldiers by simply disagreeing with the war. I'm not. I love my Dad with all of my heart. I think about him every minute of every day.

The war on terrorism is an invisible war. They finally found a loophole to create an ongoing war, cause, or conflict. The war on terrorism is like the war on drugs, it'll always exist. Terrorism isn't something you can stop...it's something that has always existed and will always exist. We are at no greater risk from a terrorist attack today than we would have been on 9/10/01. The government just wants you to think that so that the idiots in this country can be scared into giving up their civil rights. We'll never see an end to this. We can only hope that we get a decent president who cares more about their country than their own personal interests. |

Good luck TOTIPOTENT. Take care. If terrorism has no end, we should just leave it be? And El Barto, you´re right. We are at no greater risk today than we were on 9/11. But the risk exists. And that´s why your government is doing something to deal with it. Why now, then? Well, why not 8 years ago, when Iraq started breaking UN resolutions? THe comments made about USA´s world conquering plans, evil empirealistic schemes have as much propaganda bullshit in them as your president´s speaches.

Why is it necessary to wait for the war start before before protesting it? War protestors are trying to stop the war and generally they are not going to think the war is okay even if it does go very smoothly for US.
And as far as supporting the troops, I don't think many people have hatred or scorn for the young men and women that are being put at risk. And, it appears that the real hawks aren't even in the military. The rational member of the administration appears to be Colin Powell, who has always put the safety of troops first. But, "the support the men and women of military" argument is often used as cover to limit dissent about our nations's policies. Somehow someone that thinks that Bush and Cheeney's push to war hasn't been justified is unpatriotic and doesn't care about the troops that may die. I think it's supporting the troops when one questions whether their lives are being risked for a rational and well thought policy. |

So in order to fix the problem, the government is bringing up all these new laws that allow them to freely spy on citizens, laws that are slowly eroding our civil rights. Great. Guilty until proven innocent my ass. People die every day from cars...are we going to ban cars? Ben Franklin had it right when he said "He who gives up freedom for security deserves neither freedom nor security." And that is what's happening. |

Well put, El Barto. You're right, this whole thing is about taking away our civil rights. Every war we've ever been in, our government has been raped this country of at least one its rights. Except for the revolutionary war of course, because we had no rights yet. But this war, however, will be the worst. Just look at the anti-terrorist bill! Oh, he smokes pot he must be terrorist. Hey that guy's headlight out...probably a terrorist. This is such bullshit. I don't see how the american people can let this happen. Well, actually I do. Regardless, people need to realize that the act of overthrowing the government is actually one of our rights, and along with all of my other God-given rights, which mainly pertain to the first 10 amendments, I'll be dead before I ever give ANY of them up.

God bless you, TOTI-P. Seriously, you have my sincere admiration and gratitude. Just don't be surprised when you come home to the pissing rantings of the millions of ingrates who will doubtless greet your return with displaced disdain. Compared to your action, nothing any of us say on this board matters even an iota. It's all the whining of spoiled brats.
