Speaking of, my friend bought his family an acre each of moon property for Xmas. It came with a map and a deed and everything. There are still claims left, so hurry!

He's only a fool if he plans on flying a rocket to the moon to stake his claim. Otherwise he's fully aware that its only value is entertainment.

No I don't (good idea though). But the people who sells pieces of the moon claim they have the right to do so, and they also claim it is legitimate, while they are actually selling something which isn't even theirs. A lot of people buy this thinking it's a good investment (really) because they think that, if in the future man colonizes the moon, they (or their children or granchildren) will actually have land there. Which is not the case.
BTW, I'm selling other dimensions. Anyone want to buy one from me? I also sell the monster of Loch Ness, so once they find it it is yours! Only $50000 so be quick!

fallus - Maybe it's a Belgium thing. I don't know anyone who is preparing for their children's future by purchasing moon acreage. If they are, then their kids probably have bigger problems than shattered hopes of moon prospects; like wiping Mommy and Daddy's drool. Aside from the fact that Mars will probably be where we end up, it'll be a thousand years before any but the richest and smartest get to go.

It's kind of like how we humans "own" land on earth. Is it really ours or what? do we own the grass and trees or just the area above the ground where we have our houses occupy space? Or maybe we own every bit of land under our house all the way to the core of the earth! Anyhow, i don't know where i'm going with this..

Well, not really. Of course humans own land on earth just because we claimed it. But it's all regulated by governments, and not by some company who just wants to make some $$$. No one will take away your land on earth (unless there's a war going on or something), but your land on the moon will be taken away from you, probably even without notification.
I do admire the guy who came up with the concept, he's making lots of money with it. I which I came up with it first!

Man, I claim the land under my house all the way to the core of the earth. Otherwise it's just not worth the trouble it gives me. The whole back quadrant of the plot floods for months at a time, and when it dries up, crawdads appear. In my freaking yard! The only solace I can take is knowing that somewhere, far underneath the uncertainty of the marshy surface of my land is a mantle of solid rock protecting its glowing, molten contents.
My trees! My birds that crap all over my car! My crawdad & Nile virus-infested little plot of land! Down to the fucking core! |
