So I beleive I will be purchasing a new guitar amplifier tomorrow, and I was hoping to get some feedback on my choice. I think I've decided on a Randall RG100SC, 100 Watt 2 X 12. Any input on this company or this particular amp or amp advice in general would be much appreciated. I could also use a hug. Thanks in advance. |

I know nothing about guitars, but I did pick up on the GBV Hardcore UFO's reference, nice. |

you should look for user reviews on http://www.harmony-central.com and see what others think about it. I do agree with mdisanto tho, tubes are worth the extra cash.

Yes, tubes are nice, most definitely worth saving for. I just got a Vox 60-watt bass amp. Sweet.
Good luck with your purchase!

What were you planning on using the amp for, and what kinda tunes you play? |

I wanna thank you fellers, for not shuttin' me out. Thank you for the responses. I actually bought the Randall today, and while I would certainly love a Fender tube amp (or a nice Mesa Rectifier half stack, for that matter), by budget and time constraints led me to this purchase. I was getting a good deal on a trade in ($250 for a Peavey Studio Pro 112) and I needed the amp as soon as possible, as we need to rehearse quite badly. I needed a reasoably priced combo amp for rehearsing, recording and possible future live use, and this seemed to be the best fit. As for what sort of "tunes" I play, obviously Mr. Black has been a tremendous influence on my style, though I like to think our sound is varied enough to keep it interesting. Again, thank you all for your input, and to Itchload for catching my GbV reference. I like distortion, when I bar chord, e'en though it's not tube, I still like my noise. And I really love the solo from that song. |

i have an ampeg VT-120, but i think my brother damaged the tubes on accident. he didn't give it a chance to warm up enough. am i right that when you see blue the tube is in trouble? :/ two of 'em have some blue. :( :( they were brand new tubes when i bought the amp. |

mine has a Standby switch and a Power switch. if you just switch both on and have the volume cranked on your guitar and then slam a chord out, the tubes will cry out in pain. |

i dont think that really hurts them. i always do that cuase it sounds cool and mine seems to work fine, i blew a fuse the other day, but the tubes are still doing their thing. and when you turn it off while its cooling off hit a few chords and it sounds cool
