I know I totally wrote a rebuttal and the rebutted couldn't understand me because of my spelling...
Actually it would be nice since I totally can't spell. I did use to be worse and gotten better but it is pretty bad. Also don't like writing [sic] beside words anymore...

Are there other message boards with spellcheckers? Seems like it would be a major drain on the server..?

Spelling isn't that hard, English isn't my native language and I think I'm doing alright... It's the grammar I'm having more problems with sometimes, but as long as I get the message through (is that written correctly? through and though and tought are the words I keep forgetting how to write).
Dave : yes, the server wouldn't really like that if there are lots of messages being posted at the same time, but I don't think that would be a problem because I think this site has about an average of 1 post/5 minutes - which isn't bad, but I doubt this would cause a problem. However, you would need a database of all English words, which would take some storage... I wouldn't bother trying to implement this anyway, I would think there are client-side tools that will check your spelling automatically whenever you post something on a website. If such tools do not exist, maybe I should consider writing one myself :)

You may not realize but Americans are lazy. We expect to have everything (including spelling, food, sex, etc) delivered to us on a silver platter! We really only work about half of the time we get paid for - and that is expected. I envy people that come to America from other countries and bust their ass because thay will acomplish more in their life than 10 Americans could ever do. I am a lazy Amercan - and proud! |

The point of this forum is communication. I think that as long as we can understand eachother we'll be alright. where a spellchecker would help would be when it would help someone learn to improve their spelling. The spelling here, from what i've seen, however, is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than at most other message boards/forums I've been to, so I'm definitely not complaining.
In other words, if you've got it all wrong (spelling, that is), then I'd probably think you're a big idiot, online, and take whatever you say as trash. However, if you make a couple of humanly mistakes, i don't think I'll hate you or take you for an idiot because of it and I don't see why someone else would, either.
