When I first logged on to this forum, I couldn't believe what I saw.
Here was an actually well put together website with hundreds of registered people that appreciated the music of Frank Black in all his incarnations and band members.
People here were having discussions and reciprocating ideas and sharing their work or other things that people might not know about (ie SSMVGD) and it seemed like I had found a good place...
Not only that, but it seemed the site was approved by the man himself.
Now I don't know what the fuck is going on.
There are posters in here who seem to have nothing better to do than be assholes. Maybe since I am not 14 anymore, I don't find the humor in it. Mirv, Jmascis, and a few others obviously have no life at all. They choose to come in here and see who they can rile up.
I don't want to come to this site anymore and read these comments that just make me wince and be embarrased. And I have a right to come to this site because I am an appreciater of this music and I want to share with other people who are too.
These little fucks with their smart aleck posts should be banned. The topics should be moved to a completely new subject "Assholes".
Now don't get me wrong. I don't mean that whenever somebody disagrees or says they don't like the music or whatever that they should be banned, but I see no reason why posts calling fro FB to end it all or to wear a Manzier should have a place at this site.
Dave, you did a good thing and I know you don't agree with banning people, and I know that posts like that should be ignored, but this is ruining the site in short order. You started this, you can end it.
I see you move posts from people if they aren't in the appropriate category. Move these fucks.
I am so completely sick of reading their bullshit. They are the only ones that post anymore because people are sick of their shit so they won't post or even care what's going on at this site.
We don't worship Frank Black. We don't want to "drink his bath water" we don't care what he eats or what he sleeps in or whether he wears boxers or briefs or eats cream of wheat with brown sugar.
What the REAL members of this forum are interested in is THE MUSIC plain and simple. Along with that comes, wanting to know when new albums are out, when they are touring, when they might make appearances on TV and discussing past work.
The anonymous nature of forums and posts lend themselves to the availability of petty, immature members to make their asshole comments with no repercussions. They know they wouldn't say that stuff in a real face to face situation because they would get their sorry asses smacked back into their cribs.
My question is WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE LIKE THAT? It doesn't. Ignore them, I guess until Dave decides to step up and do something about it.
They need to get over their self-esteem issues and their mommy/daddy issues and contribute or get the fuck out. Airing on the sympathetic side, maybe you assholes really need psychological help and I am sure you can find some good doctors who can give you some pills tomake you feel alllllll betttttterr.
In any community, or should I say in a REAL LIFE community, troublemakers are dealt with. They are not tolerated. Why should this forum be any different?

you just have to deal with that stuff man. its not that big of a deal, i just dont read the topics that you can tell are just gonna get bad. i mean if anything all you people constantly bringing up like Mirv and his posting habits are just gonna make it worse. Whenever you have a lot of people theres bound to be some problems. theyll get bored though, but not if they know some people are like losing sleep over their actions, i certainly am not. just relax though, it will work out.

first, i think this thread is in the wrong forum, probably suggestions or general chat would've been better.
second, there *are* people on here who want to drink frank's bathwater. or at least, i think they do. there have been some posts that made me wonder for the person's mental stability.
the J. Mascis account really does contribute nothing, it's not even funny. but oh well. just ignore it. MIRV is just an idiot.

Arguing on the internet and trying to get your way will get you know where. It's a dead-end to bicker and complain on the internet. It's just not effective.
I say come what may on this forum. If the topic is "Teenager of the Year" and after 20 posts people are talking about cheeseburgers or how much MIRV offended them, so be it. People are gonna run out of the things to say about the topic, and a little shift isn't always a bad thing. You can't force people to talk about Frank Black all the live long day. Otherwise it would be superficial and that's a bore. A little MIRV or J mascis here and there creates an extra color in our box of Crayola crayons. (though J mascis should probably get a scooter or a bike so he has something to do outside instead of post pictures here all day. Poor guy.)

yes, sometimes certain posts get on my nerves - so what? a) i don't (nor do you) run this site and i don't know about anyone else, but i'm very glad it's here - its been too long since there was an informative and interactive frank black site out there - be thankful we have a forum to post on - it's not our decision who comes and goes b)IGNORE posts by people you don't like. c) this board is MUCH less chaotic and bothersome than MANY others i have posted on - certain sites are so full of flaming assholes that you would swear its a 2-1 asshole to nice ratio, and we DO NOT have that problem here - plus i wouldn't say any of the people here are "assholes" to use your terminology - sometimes some people get on my nerves yes, but no one is out there to target the swimmer trying to make your life hell, so just deal with it and finally d) it's a message board - this is what comes with the territory; chose what to read and what to ignore and if you don't want to post anymore, don't - but don't let a few annoying posts stop your enjoyment of the site, and if they do, then maybe it's time to prioritize things

Hopefully they can be ignored and just be accepted for the losers that they are; I think that'll be possible here. What I don't want to see happen is what happened to the Weezer board. That's almost 100% bullshit. So long as this forum continues to have a good deal of interesting topics I'll continue to visit and leave the useless posts alone. Let the online personalities have their self indulgent fun and rest easy knowing you're far more mature than they are. |

Dude, I sympathize with your frustration and embarassment, and I know it's tempting to wish that somebody would come down here and play mean-daddy-spanky-daddy and put an end to all this bullshit. That said, however, I'm not holding my breath and I'm okay with continuing to ignore the assholes where possible. The fact of the matter seems to be that anyone who complains gets a boot in the face and is told to stop whining forthwith. Although the nature of your original post seems designed to inflame, I'm also willing to think that maybe you just needed to vent. People, if we're going to support a policy of tolerance towards assholes, we need to also acknowledge that folks are going to get riled about it every now and then.

I think Malax summed it up perdy well. Three (kinda) trolls out of over 450 members is nothing short of miraculous. (Our trolls are pretty pathetic actually..i'm embarrased to say.)
For the record, i can't move individual postings, just the whole subject.
And people who find their topics edited/moved/removed seem to get into this funky mindstate where they attempt to make it so it's impossible to manage all their postings. (ie, flood the message board.)
So...the best option is for EVERYONE to ignore the postings.
Let me repeat: IGNORE OFFENSIVE POSTINGS.
The means don't reply to them. Don't comment on them. Don't even move your lips when you read them. But do read them with an Austrian accent, that seems to help.
And here's why: the only purpose anyone posts any message is for other people to read, and hopefully react to. You're only playing into the hands of the 'offenders'.

You don't have to come on the site. If you want all these restrictions then perhaps you should start your own and be the head of the censoring team. Okay guys - here's the deal.
I'll charge a reasonable fee, say $10/hr, 8hrs a day to regulate this message board. And that's Canadian $$'s - real cheap for you American's.
Once i see an advance of $3200 (two months wage) i'll begin to moderate these boards as you wish.

One thing I find equally annoying to the trolls are the forum snobs who crap all over first time posters who happen to ask redundant questions.
If this message board is to be a public forum and not a secret society than there's going to be a breaking in period every time we get a new member. I'd like to see a sort of "Topic Hall of Fame" that addresses things like SSMVGD and Pixies reunions.
As for the trolls, the best thing I could hope for is a topic posted by J Mascis dying without ever being read or replied to. That would be a beautiful triumph of resraint and passive aggression.

We are not all on the same level on this forum both with intelligence and maturity. The good out ways the bad "trolls". I say if you want to stay the here ignore them (I from now will not resond to stupid topics that involve that kind of game playing that this medium brings. I like this site for so many reasons but I too am down. I think we should all pitch in to make this envornment as friendly as posible I agree to disagree but some topic's should be removed a some point that F...ing gift topics got over 1000 reads well I read it at least 50 times now..but I'm done with it.
