Hey y'all. An interesting thing just happened. A person on my hallway (college dorm) overheard me talking about the Pixies and thus related the fact that she was Kim Deal's niece. Interesante. This lead to her bringing home videos up and I just watched them. It was funny seeing Kim Deal try to teach a 50 year old man to stage dive. Anyhow, i sort of probed the girl about Kim and any tidbits she had about the Pixies. I guess she saw them on the U2 tour..but she was about 8 at the time, so she doesn't remember much of it. But I guess she did meet the band and everything. It was odd because I knew so much about hte Pixies history (as we all do i'm sure) so I'd say things like "she must have been married to John Murphy at this time right?" (the video was from '87) and whatnot. I learned a few interesting tidbits about Kim Deal and her relationship with the band and whatnot, but for the sake of not turning this message board into a gossip column, maybe I shouldn't blab about them. Basically the point of this post is to express the fact that I actually saw a member of the Pixies' home movies.
Nevertheless, I'm a bit out of it now so to speak (I'm in college afterall) so sorry if this post seems stupid, anyone who wants to critisize this post as being stupid is free to do so and I'll probably be in agreement with you by tomorrow.
night. |

I'm actually interested in why Kim Deal didn't participate in the Pixies' DVD. Was she left out, or did she opt out? And only less than a month 'till 2003, so I better have that DVD soon!
Pretty cool Itchload...no need to self-efface. |

I go to Umass Amherst (it's educational). It was pretty odd, because the girl kind of thought of the Pixies as just her aunts crazy band. I asked her if she had their albums and she said "yeah, i think we have all of them somewhere". Her dad was afraid of Kim bringing a tape of the band over because he was afraid "it would fall into the wrong hands." (this is back in the '80s) I was tempted to yell "don't you realize they're probably teh most important band since the Beatles???" but i just sort of nodded. Oddly enough, her roommate is related to Stanley Kubrick, another personal hero of mine, so in the span of a few days I found out I have connections to The Pixies and Stanley Kubrick, it's almost too much. |

That is so cool. In addition to being impressed by your connections, I must also congratulate you on the fact that you "sort of probed" a girl! Heh-heh. (Sorry, the general atmosphere of the board must be rubbing off on me. I really only mean it in a Beavis & Butthead kind of way--"heh-heh, you said probed.")
So, is there a family resemblance? |

to clarify, there is NO release date for the DVD, it is still a LONG way off, but it will happen in 2003. POSSIBLY October for the US, maybe earlier for the UK. Any reports anywhere else, other than the 4ad site are incorrect. Just thought I should say, so we don't get flooded again with emails asking why it hasn't been released.
There's been a lot of legal stuff being done, to make the DVD happen. Plus we can't release it in the US until the Pixies are free from the Elektra deal, then there's a six month sell-off time. So its not happening early on in 2003.
Kim was going to participate in the documentary (I presume you mean Gouge?), but unfortunately they couldn't get a good time to meet up and make the deadline, so it didn't happen. There's apparently a Boston Bands documentary, which I've heard does feature Kim, but I don't know anything about it.
Hope that clears up a few points... |

why don't you tell kim's neice about this board? she might no longer think it's her aunt's crazy little band, it's 10 years later now and look at the fans,
