Ooh, that was a mighty fine show. The club billed it as a solo acoustic gig, but it was Frank, Dave and Scott. Sunglasses were donned, but he didn't have to keep his back turned this time since people weren't being as obnoxious. (He did apologize for kicking at someone who complimented his shoes--he was worried that they were trying to tie them together or something.) Pretty good turnout for a Wednesday night in Arkansas during a warning that there may be--gasp--sleet! Southerners are big babies about winter weather. 35 songs! I gotta go sleep now, but I'll post a set list if anyone wants to see it.
Also gave Frank a small xmas gift after the show (last time I left cookies with Dave for the band, but he may have smoked them for all I know), chatted briefly with him about it and got a nice thank you and a hand shake. So, perfect. We had a rocking good time. Oh, my husband wants to add here that Dave kicked ass tonight. And he is correct.
Bon soir.

Thanks, Zan. Make that 36 songs. Here it 'tis:
Black Rider Crackity Jones Humboldt County Massacre Cactus Brackish Boy All My Ghosts Six Sixty-Six So. Bay Southbound Bevy Bullet Manitoba Whiskey In Your Shoes Holiday Song Nadine Horrible Day Freedom Rock How You Went So Far Steak & Sabre Jane the Queen of Love Cold Heart of Stone Monkey Gone to Heaven Mr. Grieves California Bound End of Miles Shrimp Song Nimrod's Son The Swimmer Bartholomew Sister Isabel Gouge Away John the Revelator Jumping Beans Farewell Bend Wave of Mutilation Western Star Black Rider
Whew! It was a great set and a relaxed vibe. Love those new songs and was glad to finally hear the famous Shrimp Song. Western Star and Jumping Beans stand out especially in my memory. At the end of Western Star, Frank started screaming until he turned purple. You know, most people's heads would probably explode if they tried that. Anyway, it looked like the guys were having a reasonable amount of fun. Dave did this killer jump during Freedom Rock, Frank wandered the full width of the stage (guess he had more room, huh?) and Scott . . .well, I couldn't see him through the smoke, but he sounded good.

it was quite an amazing show, i was so very happy to see him here again. im glad that you were able to keep up with the set list, after a while it just became overwhelming the number of songs. i had a perfect view front and center, last time there was an annoying guy in front but yeah. it was funny how everybody knew all the classics but few knew the new songs, our little treat. wish i could have stayed longer, i heard my brother got a photo with frank, oh well. i did hear him say "ill bring the whole band with me next time" got me excited. i got excited when i got there and saw the teles on stage as well as daves les paul, and the drums. but yeah, high points of the night: so bay, all pixies, western star, freedom rock, not that it wasnt all wonder full, i lost my voice and have been paying for it with great pain, but it was all worth it, another excellent show |

Precisely my sentiments. Wow. I didn't think he ever did Humboldt live, and had assumed he scarsely does So Bay anymore. And Western Star!? Damn. Are you there, God? It's me, Dietzel--and I want to hear Western Star live. And, what are these strange changes going on in my body?

Actually, I've seen him play 'Humbolt County' live, but in a solo electric show (November 15 2000). Never heard of a version with a band before.

Yeah, I would love to hear The Scene live. I need to put out my bootleg feelers and see if anyone got this show--even with half a band, it kicked some tail. There was also a videographer. Wonder what was up with that. |

Bob Dylan: All the Tired Horses. And welcome aboard!
I think I'll throw this question on the FAQ b-b-q. I'm working on it. I swear. |

as a novice Dylan fan, trying to catch up decades of masterpieces, i don't think i yet came across All the Tired Horses. What album is that off? am i correct that Dylan's brought out 44 albums by now? I've just about made myself familiar with 8 of them. not bad going , eh
