That's an attention-grabbing subject line if I ever saw one. We all know about WIMM? exploding out with the buildings at the end of Fight Club, but does anyone know any other times their music's appeared on film soundtracks? Or even Frank by himself?
I know i found out about the Pixies when I first heard "Wave of Mutilation" in Pump up the Volume(1990 Christian Slater classic), and couldn't stop thinking about that intoxicating song (at the time I thought he was singing "Wave all through the nation").
Sorry about the tease -HH |

"Wave all through the nation." Hee-hee. Oddly enough (I guess this is cheating b/c it's TV and solo Frank) I was watching Andy Richter Controls the Universe last season and heard the instrumental lead-in of "I Heard Ramona Sing". They just used it as a transition in from the commercial. Very strange. |

"Here Comes Your Man" is in that horrible Heather Graham movie Say It Isn't So... Highlight of the film, shocked the hell outta me when it started playing.

In a french movie called "Albert Souffre" (albert is suffering), you can find something like 15 songs of the Pixies. Mr Grieves, i've been tired, caribou, where is my mind, all over the world, ana ..... The pixies were the only soundtrack of that movie. The producers and the director send their movie to the pixies and asked if they can use their music. the pixies said ok and for you, it's free.
But this movie is very hard to find even in France. it was not very successfull but as you can imagine, the music was awesome ! Speedy Franky

Also, i just remembered that WIMM plays during the credits of "the adventures of sebastian cole". It's an ok movie, but the song doesn't fit in very well. |

There is a really good movie with Eric Stolz called "Kicking and Screaming", and "Cecilia Ann" is played during the opening credits. Sure it's a cover but they play the Pixies version so that counts...

i just noted that most of the movies mentioned included pixies songs....(as opposed to Frank's current stuff)... i realise this question comes up in Here comes your man, but i think the pixies songs-in-movies topic has just about been overdone/ nuked so does anyone know any other CATHOLICS songs that have featured in movies... , anyone know of songs other than (1) Bullet and (2)I heard Ramona sing in (1) Crime and punishment in suburbia and (2) some obscure tv programme respectively.... and if not why the hell not? (does the director get to fork out less $$$ if the band has split?)

speedy,
i've been trying to find this mysterious film since i was in High School. my girlfriend at the time spent some time abroad and told me about this film, but i have yet to locate it.. (even here in Los Angeles which has lots of specialty video rental shops etc..)..
so the film is pretty bad?
it's good to at least hear someone else mention it so i know that it does actaully exist.

A MATTER OF DEGREES staring the late great John Kennedy Jr. features a couple pixies songs.
I wonder if John Kennedy was a big FRANK fan. He spend a lot a time hanging around BOSTON.
