Just got in from the Warsaw and i'm beat. the show was quite kickass. i'm not going to go into the details of non-show stuff (like how Frank was grumpy or how Dave Lovering is the man) because thats really neither here nor there. The set list is WAY out of order, and i know i'm forgetting at least one song, BUT:
Gouge Away Hermaphroditos Black Letter Days Steak and Sabre All My Ghosts Whiskey in My Shoes Crackity Jones Thalassocracy I Want Rock and Roll Men in Black Horrible Day Nadine Manitoba Monkey Gone to Heaven Chip Away Boy Bullet I've Seen Your Picture Robert Onion Jane The Queen of Love How You Went So Far Cold Heart of Stone Heloise Farewell Bend Southbound Bevy California Bound Cactus Dog in the Sand
(totally blanking on first song of encore) Freedom Rock The Black Rider
as with most shows on the tour, heavy on BLD and DITS material. DITS sounded amazing, as did Cactus, I want rock and roll and Jane. David Lovering's show was goofy and funny, the Bennies rocked hard and Reid Paley was different than i expected, but very good. I got some good "action" shots of the band that i'll hopefully have posted shortly. All in all, an excellent show.

Sounds like another great show from FB&TC. Thanks for the review.

Thanks Brian - but only two songs from Devil's Workshop? I find that quite surprising |

i was at the warsaw show. thought frank was great, though he seemed a little tired this time around. the band seemed tighter than last year and genuinely having a good time playing on stage.
the set started off great....high energy, the whole crowd was into it. i thought it lost a lot in the middle of the set. too many mellow songs in a row. they were great songs, notably "manitoba", although it slowed down the pace of the show. it might have worked better if they threw one or two mellow songs in and mixed it up with something faster. i also wish they would've played more off pistolero (smoke up, western star, bad harmony, skeleton man, etc...)
they seem to be really into the mellow saloon-type songs lately, which is cool, but it kind of ignores a big chunk of frank's previous work. the first encore song, "solid gold", turned everything back up. sounded amazing.
my favorites of the night:
*solid gold *horrible day *monkey gone to heaven *i've seen your picture *thalassocracy *whiskey in your shoes *i want rock n roll |

Great set, although I really don't get Hermaphroditis. He sells it to me and all, especially live, but its just not one of my favorites. Nadine and Jane are definitly my favorites and I like the choices from the new albums, but still waiting on 1826 and San Antonio, Tx. I'm happy I got to see three different shows, but I think one more I may have broken myself, or have to begin to study sign language. |

The seamless Crackity to Thalassocracy to I want Rock and Roll progression was particularly poignant for me. Bridging from one era of FB to the next to the next. Helps keep it all in perspective.
