I'm dying to know how many FB fans/forum patrons are also into this great band (and/or Kristin Hersh's solo records). Their first album and The Real Ramona are, in my opinion, as excellent as nearly anything by the Pixies. |

could you Throwing Muses fans suggest a couple songs for me to download? I've never actually heard any of their songs i don't think. and if i like them, I'll go buy an album or two.

Haha. Funny.
Yea, I like Kristen Hersh alot, as well as Throwing Muses. Really good artist who is totally against downloading mp3s as it takes food out of her children's mouth. |

yeah, i agree that those two (the first album and the real ramona) are up there with the pixies albums. university and kristenīs first solo album are also amazing. ProverbialCereal, try 'bea', 'shark', 'bright yellow gun'. and then buy all the albums (one or two wonīt be enough...) |

Don't hate me anyone (Floop), but I've only bought one or two Muses albums at full-price. That said, I fully intend to recomp Kristin for her musical genius once I actually have the monetary resources to do so. And Derek, just buy University. You won't be disappointed.

House Tornado is my fav Throwing Muses album.
It's probably because of the really good Tonya Donelly songs on it, though.

Erm, can it be the tour has passed??? (HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA!)
Other news is that if you do wander over to Tanya's site there's a pic of me and Kelley Deal several pounds ago...

If Leah is a euphemism for Josephine or Tanya and by Kelley she means Kim, then I guess so. |

Since its still on jo's server, here you go - don't start thinking I'm some kind of nut or something - its the same one I use for my profile on the Tanya message board - hence why I gave no exact URL... http://www.sweetfoolthemouth.co.uk/images/breeders/leah/leahkelley.jpg

Awesome! I've seen that pic before, as I too have patronized the Tanya D board. And Leah, sorry if I seemed to insinuate anything. |

I'd say "beat ya to the store", but I don't think it's physically possible. What's your favorite KH solo album, Leah (or anyone, really)? |

Fave Solo KH - tricky prolly Strangels or Sunny Border Blue.
My recommendation is based on the one fact that one features a more pop based theme and the other is more acoustic sounding

My fave is Hips and Makers. So many gorgeous songs.
Apropos of nothing, have just discovered that self-titled Throwing Muses sounds excellent played back to back with new Pere Ubu--St. Arkansas. Have lined up this particular combo in the CD changer several times now. They have a similar wildness/sparseness about them. |

Right go to 4ad.com under artists, select Tanya Donelly and listen to the whole of her albumn Beautysleep free of charge and without twisting your melons.
Been a bonkers year for top recording of, but this is the one for me -but what a bitch of a call to make - when you consider that the Breeders and Frank's two opus's had to be considered too...

I'm a fan of the Belly albums, but not so much of Lovesongs. Would you guys say that Beautysleep is a better solo album?
Also, has anyone seen this website? www.geocities.com/iggy_black/muses.html |

Smarting over the fact I neglected to mention that "Sweetride - The Best of Belly" was also released this year, which EVERYONE should own - if only for hearing Lillian & Tanya's cover of Are You Experienced.
I have to say that of all the Best of's I own its in a league of its own.
Also you can now buy from 4AD a promo EP thing that has Mercury, one of the new Muses tunes on it, which in my view sounds as energetic and noisesome as anything from Hunk Papa. (This is the point where jo appears and tells me I know nothing...) Extra good value cos it has Rain from Tanya's Sleepwalk EP on it, which has always been a fave!
