i hope this wasn't posted already..
in the Letters section that people write in someone wrote: "I implore you to re-review Frank Black's Devil's Workshop. The reviewer gave it just two stars (same as Jennifer Love Hewitt's new one). Like all of Frank Black's albums, it needs to be listened to two or three times to be really appreciated. I didn't like it at first either, so no hard feelings.

I bet the guy wrote alot more than that, and then the RS editors choped it to hell, but they made sure they kept in the guys "I didn't like it at first either" for good measure.

While sitting in Lee Myles waiting for the word on my transmission horror I flipped through the latest copy of RS Dec 26, 2002. To my surprise on the last 'TOP LIST' page there was a top 10 list of best selling CD's from some town down south (USA) that had Devil's Workshop at #4 and Black Letter Days at #6. Someone on this message board must have a copy of this to post it verbatum, because after the Lee Myles guy told me the transmission would cause me upwards of $2000 I just about forgot what I just read.

Wasn't that Athens, GA? Athens is more than a small southern town. It's a major college town (University of Georgia) and where bands like REM, Pylon, Guadacanal Diary, B-52's (?) came from. |
