I got three films out last night from the local video shop, Training Day, Buffalo Soldiers and Wrong Turn (don't ask, I just fancied a trashy horror film and it was as scary as a window!!!)
I remember watching a 'Scariest T.V Moments' (or something like that) on T.V (funnily enough) and The Shining was voted number one, which I was delighted about as it's the scariest film I have ever seen. I just found it really creepy.
So what do you think is the scariest film ever???

The Exorcist was pretty scary. As was the Blair Witch Project.
For a plain old disturbing film i don't think you can beat Texas Chainsaw Massacre, what a classic! |

Yeah TCM (the original, I haven't seen the remake) is possibly the most disturbing film I have ever seen.
I also loved the Blair Witch Project but I realise that some people think it's a load of crap!!! It's just one of those you either love or hate I guess.

Anyone who hates Blair Witch has no imagination, i think it's just fantastic.
I haven't see the remake of TCM either, why bother its not going to be half as good and i'm sure that Ryan Phillipe (sp?) is leather face, which would just about sum up the entire film. |

Event Horizon scared me, for some reason...

I've seen the new TCM, it was better than the usual scary movie shit and with a fantastic turn from R Lee Emery its definately watchable, its not a remake though, its just the same franchise I guess. I'd have to say for disturbingness I'd go with the original as the scariest movie. The bit in the chair where she is screaming is just horrible. For edge of your seat nervousness I liked alien and the first scream had some nice jumpy bits from what I remember. Exorcist. Pagh!

The Omen has some good moments. The scene where they open up the grave to find the jackals skeleton is brilliantly executed with Carl Orff's Carmina Burana banging away in the background.
My wife refuses to watch these films. I had to rent The Ring for my own viewing recently. Somewhat disappointed with it.
I remember sweating a bit when Hellraiser came out as well.

well i am trying to cut down on the beer.
it is my wife's fault - she drinks like a train and i have to be the one who says no more these days.
but then again, i did drink 10 pints on saturday, which i greatly regret.
but seriously, i have noticed a real deterioration in my spelling, along with sentance construction once i finished university 8 months ago...
(i even had to check the spelling of deterioration in that sentance!)
but if mrcheese gets upset by being called a girls blouse, i'll buy him a beer at the silver mt zion gig on wednesday.
how's that for manners!

There was a 60īs b/w version of Turn of the Screw called the Innocents which scared the bejesus out of me a few years ago.

| I liked the Ring (Japanese version of course). Its not so much scary but very creepy which was largely lost in the American version. |

Shit yeah I forgot about Ring. The original is one creepy film, scary stuff. I haven't seen the American remake 'cos I can't see it being as good (from what I have heard).
But yeah Ring is definately up there with TCM and The Shining for me.

It's nowhere near as good....it trys to change some plot points/adds some different scenes, but it feels pointless rather than fresh....the original is great, seen Ring 0 to, that's pretty good.

The only downside to Ring is it reminds me of the girl I miss 'cos she introduced me to it. Then again so do a lot of things!!!
