Who here wears glasses on the forum, besides Jim Mcluckie?
I can't think about anything but glasses. My glasses need repaired and I have, like, 20/200 vision.
Basically impossible to function.
I shouldn't bore you with my petty problems, but I want to hear of all the glasses-wearers on the forum.
I think there are worse threads.

I wear glasses. Not to correct vision but to keep UV rays from destroying my eyes. (Stupid Lyme!!!!!!) Also to protect people from seeing my scary eyes.

I too am visually handicapped. (See profile pic for me) I want new glasses before my driver's license is renewed next month. Maybe some star-shaped ones like Bootsy wears...

Glasses here too.
I'm really wary about the whole lasik surgery thing. It's relatively new and we don't know what will happen to those eyeballs 20 years later. I keep hearing how great it is and how well it works but there's something about cutting into your cornea that makes me think, "no."
Slicing up eyeballs...Ohh ho ho ho!!!

I wear glasses. My pair has been chewed up and basically repaired from being utterly broken about 3 times and look like hell if you take a close look at them. I figure they give me more indie-rock clout

I wear glasses...and I had a nightmare last night too. I got up to get the tickets online, and I couldn't find my glasses, and everything was too blurry to read, and I didn't get tickets. As for why I wear glasses, I think it's just that I get them cheap through work. Plus I look totally awesome. |

There are whole websites dedicated to complications after lasik surgery... I guess lasik supporters will tell you that any surgery is bound to go wrong in a number of cases, but... personally I wouldn't do it!!! A quick search turned up http://www.lasikdisaster.com/ and http://www.complicatedeyes.org/
Oh, and I need new glasses :)

I usually wear contacts but I have had to have corrective measures for my eyes since I was about 11.

That pic of your eye reminds me of the opening scene from Blade Runner, where someone's eye is shown extremely close-up and you can see all the horrible polluting industrial smokestacks reflected in their iris. You ever see the movie?

I just got new glasses the other day-I lost my old pair(I was due new ones anyway). I'm short-sighted(In more ways than one!), but I don't wear them all the time. If I go to the cinema I bring 'em with me.

Man, my old glasses just went bad on me.. more like, my eyes got worse. It felt so nice to get new ones and be able to see far away again. Plus they look better than my old ones (which were two pieces of carboard with tiny holes in them and a rubber band to keep them in place)

Nothing beats the feeling of new glasses. For two days everything takes on such clarity! I'm due for a stronger set, maybe I should book an appointment...

Mine felt a bit unsteady on me at first, plus there was that wobbly-vision adjustment....I was gonna get contacts, but would've had to pay for another test and wait longer....plus it's ill-advised after a recent eye-infection I had. I stabbed myself in the eye a year or two ago, with the handle of me glasses ironically(It WAS accidental, by the way, and I cut me cornia!).

I guess if you're about 80 years old then a 22 year old movie might be relatively recent. =)

Im supposed to wear glasses.
I always lose mine. my eye sight is diminsihing. im gonna be bl.ind by the time im 20. lol.
I think im short sighted (more so in one eye), but i cant hold things close up because my muscles are fucked, and i go double vision from quite a distance. Im sposed to do this exercise each day where I follow my finger as far as i can til it goes double...but really, I just cant be bothered.

I love women who wear glasses. Super sexy. Don't wear 'em myself, although sometimes I think I should. My night vision is pretty poor, driving is scary at night. |

I wear contacts, does that count? I am incredibly blind. I always thank the lord that there ARE contacts/glasses/etc. If I lived in the middle ages, I would be sitting in a corner somewhere, rocking back and forth. Recently my eye doctor told me that if you got 1000 people together, my eyes would be the most curved (something to do with the lense of my eye). I feel so special.

I don't were glasses, but everyone in my family does (at the very least for reading or driving). Most of them started wearing them by my age though, so I might be lucky. |

Hey Ramona, do you have to get focus toric contact lenses? It sucks because most contacts are like, $30.00 a box, (for 6 for each eye) whereas the Torics are about $80.00 a box because they have to special order them. The reason I have to get the Torics is because of the curvature of my eye is so wierd. That sounds similar to what you said your eyes were like. |
