Can anyone tell me anything about this recording that I have of a show where Frank plays a couple of crazy (new - at the time)instrumentals along with a bunch of songs from TOTY and Frank Black. Is it a show that he did with They Might Be Giants? or is it a solo show. I am not even sure if it performed with the Catholics or not. It is a great recording (as far as sound quality) but also the songs that are played and the energy of the show.
That show is from 7/5/93 Houston, Texas. No TMBG at this show, just his regular band at the time. The slow-ish creepy instrumental is called "Fear" and was the theme to the old TV show One Step Beyond. The fast-ish creepy instrumental is a Ventures song called "War of the Satellites". He played those at most 93 shows. I think the only TOTY song on there is an early instrumental version of "Freedom Rock"
Are you sure that's the show I listened to it the other day! Is it a sbd? The begining of that tour is the same stuff! Great stuff! How about that biscuit!
I will attempt to upload as much as I can to the Ftp. I will send the show along with a couple of others I have to Dave Noisy so he can add them to the Ftp if he so desires.
I saw him a month later (i think), in san fransisco. I do believe the bass-player was one half og TMBG - pretty sure he played on the whole tour. Good show. He entered the stage with sunglasses and said : hi. He might have said: thanks - a couple of times. And then he said hello to some local UFO-club president or something. The instrumental called professor's theme is a song called One Step Beyond, a tv-show theme also beatyfully covered by the fantomas.
